I'm getting Polar Express on Blu-Ray 3D. I know the 3D is so so. What I wondering is, are the higher-quality plastic 3D glasses worth the investment. I would imagine I would probably watch a 3D movie maybe a half dozen time a year. I also realize movies like Coraline use the red-green not the red blue so not all glasses are the same for all movies.
However I heard that if you touch the lenses on the cheapos, they are pretty much done, garbage. If the lenses on the plastic ones are plastic that can be carefully cleaned, an/or, if you get a bit of a better viewing experience with the plastics, seems purchase them for $5 ea as opposed to buying extra disposable ones at $1 each is worth it? Any opinions, experiences? I suppose I should wait to at least view the movie first with the cheapos to see if the 3D is even good enough to watch before investing in more glasses. |

the ones in the packaging sucks. doesnt matter what movie.. try and see a 3D movie in your local theater. those glasses tend to be alot better to me. some wont let you leave with them, others will. try and get away with taking a pair.

The two 3D movies that I have been to were IMAX ones and they used the polarized 3D technology.
The polarized 3D glasses will not work on BD blu-rays since they use the colored glasses. Maybe you saw a 3D movie in the theater that uses the colored technology. ![]() |

The IMAX theaters could use a different 3d technology. Most "regular" movie theaters use RealD 3D and those are the glasses I have taken from the theaters. I havn't tried them on any 3d blu-rays yet... I tend to think 3d makes movies look really soft and somewhat crappy. I always prefer a great picture and nicely calibrated TV to create the 3d look instead of gimmicky 3dness.
