Default Blu-ray and United States of America... anyone see any similiarities?

Hello.
Been a long time reader here (more in the hardware section) and enjoying the time here while I take breaks from my studies.
Today I had to study some history and something funny happened. I can see a very clear similarity between Blu-ray and United States.
Seems like some people tend to hate both since they are the most powerful; seem people dislike them because they are not underdogs....
I mean some people tend to oppose US no matter what just because it's US. Same with Blu-ray; it is the most powerful and yet people don't like it. Why is that?
Is it because they are not underdogs?
To me, Blu-ray resembles US and HD DVD resembles middle eastern dictators* willing to fight US anytime for any reason and some people love that fact they are standing up to US; no matter what the real reason behind it is! People call them freedom fighters for the sake of fighting US; while they are really dictators themselves. some folks like HD DVD because it is standing up to Sony, they dont care if they get a quality product or not, they just support it for the sake of opposing sony.

PS: I typed Middle east dictators not Middle east people. It's the dictators that cuase trouble not people.
PS2: I'm a canadian. This post is not meant to be Pro-American. It's just how I see it!
PS3: this thread is not meant to cause any political debate. It's just an honest observation
PS4: This post is not meant to be pro-Sony. It's just an observation!

I tend to see Blu-ray as the Republic of Seychelles, a beautiful paradise island chain that most of the world has not yet visited, if they have even heard of it at all.

HD DVD is to me more like Burger King. (Is that a Republic?)

Interesting analogy. So if HD DVD wins, is America in trouble?

dude, you've got to much time on your hands to be making comparisions like this. while you are entitled to your opinion, i find it hard to believe that you actually spent time typing that out. what did you expect to come from this type of post? are you looking for more canadians that think like you to come forward and voice a similiar opinion?

blu ray is simply superior to hd-dud.

Wow. I don't want to get into bullshit politics, especially comparing them to technology, but that was pretty silly. I certainly don't want to assume this guy is Canadian, cause I am, but I have my fingers crossed he isn't.

Cheers

So what you are saying is if Blu-ray wins then people can relax and enjoy their entertainment while living the "good life". While if HD DUD wins, we will continue to get more obese and die prematurely of heart attacks because of the noxious gases coming off our boiling discs?

The King of the Republic of Burger.

Wheat in the north and south. Beef in the mid latitudes. The monarch is a bit of a dolt, but the kids seem to like him.

Time to find another professor of history. S/he sounds like a determinist, which is not good.

Welcome.

Hmmm. Savak sounds a lot like Saavik. You are clearly a spy from Paramount.

Live long and prosper.

P.S. I didn't get passed the first sentence of your post.

ok the first post is a strech is not total fabrication, Blu-ray has no connect with the US, the US started out as the underdogs. I could make a better connection between HD-DVD and the US...

Burger King would be a monarchy not a republic, to quote wikipedia "A republic is a state or country that is not led by a hereditary monarch" to prove my point search on wikipedia for king, it redirects to monarch.

Welcome to the forums. I see your point, but is a sensitive topic to talk about. Should have compare it better with AMD and Intel. Now that's a war.

That's the beauty of America. You can say what you want without the fear of a beheading. Not a literal one anyway.

I dont think we should mix politics into this.

I have pretty harsh opinions on US policy and social structure, but I dont think this is the place to discuss this in any way, shape or form.

right on, this is a forum based on technology, a specific technology we can all agree on, politics shouldn't enter this forum as it'd only divide us and take us away from the topic a of Blu-ray.
