Default Greatest post of the year. Wait... It's on ign.com????

Quote:
"'m excited for the free online.. I'm told you can't send messages in game. You also can't send game invites or chat either. You don't have a universal friends list, and game companies will soon charge to use their games online. Wait.... suddenly this free online is starting to sound free! I'd rather play with my middle nut then play online with the PS3 now that I think about it"

Spoken like a true fanboy and someone who obviously has never been near a PS3.
I turn on my PS3, it logs me in, I can see my friends who are logged in and what games they are playing. For starters. Believe that, or just swallow the hype that Microsoft have shafted a whole generation of gamers with. PS3 games are delayed, sure. But maybe partly that is because blu-ray offers such massive storage so the devs can really go to town on high-def graphics and sound, rather than be limited to compromising for PC, XBox and other old-gen storage based consoles.

Unreal Tournament III should rule on PS3. Sure, it's a little wait but I'd rather wait for a fast-paced gritty shooter than lower myself to the lightweight day-glo toy that is Halo 3.

PS3 does not "blow", for goodness' sake. I see it as the console of the future that has fallen through a wormhole to our time, to unjustified unappreciation. Mankind is just not ready for it yet, apart from those who are willing to open their minds to the future potential. Shame no games fell through the wormhole with it, but that's time travel for you.

PS3 bashing is soooo boring now. Because ultimately, time will show that the naysayers were wrong to write it off. When PS3 hits full stride it will dominate. And it begins with Ratchet & Clank, which will highlight the 360's limitations so that it looks no better than a 1980's digital watch
.

I agree about PS3 being better than Xbox 360, but compromising for PC? PC is capable of more than any console still. Ps3 is awesome, but I still love my PC more. :P

It is kind of true actually. Games like GRAW2 does not read off your PS3 friends list and it is nearly impossible to find people online. Luckily Warhawk and Resistance read off your PS3 list.. otherwise you are ****ed. Sorry 360 wins here.

No they dont because for that service it cost you and for sony it does not! Plus is this not what this whole ps3 home thing is about, to make a central meeting spot for all ps3 gamers? Can we give sony atleast the same amount of time to get things moving like x-box fanbois had to give to the crap box! The 360 was craptastic until gow showed up a year+ later so lets not be so quick to judge this console war just yet.

I will let them have this....I mean, because I am sure your cell phone is so far from your pocket that you couldnt call or use that silly blue tooth headset that you use in game to call them and talk about how many bad guys you killed that last game.

I hate 360 fanboys with a passion. How could you defend such a piece of crap machine?

My friend's 360 just started freezing on him (he won it at a company X-mas party last year) and he couldn't figure it out. I'm like dude, it as total piece of shit. They have a 70%+ failure rate. Send that turd back and hopefully you get a new one.

I'm pretty sure I'll be dusting off my PS3 8 years from now when I got little ones to entertain. Games aside (even though I'm happy with current PS3 releases), the thing is total junk.

I think its closer to 30%, but thats still way to high, and I agree with your point thats its a piece of shit machine. I know three people now that had it rrod on them.

Whenever I hear someone tell me they bought one, i ask them to do me a favor, and let me know when it breaks on them. Alot of people also dont realize they can send it back to MS. I have one douchebag friend of mind that actually rebought it. Its like. MS already showed you they cant be reliable. Why go back for more? I guess he didnt want to only get $5 per game from ebgames.
Makes you wonder, how many other people are like my friend who inflated the 360 sales due to stupidity.

I would say the failure rate IS around 70%. Everyone I know, including myself who has had a 360 and played it for around 1 hour a day has DIED. I would say it is 100% falure rate, but not everyone really plays the 360 who has one. That my friend is not a 30% falure rate. And the falure is not limited to the RROD, the cd drive in mine stoped working.

I don't know what XBOX 360 people are thinking, but the PS3 Hardware is capable of handling a whole lot more than the 360. Games and other stuff just aren't at the level to take full advantage of the system yet. It still is a new system, and many companies still have to catch-up to its level of technology.

Lol. I shipped a regular Xbox at the local UPS I sold on ebay.. and the guy goes "is this a new 360?" and I said "no". He said they get at least one a day being shipped as RMA. This was awhile ago but it was funny.

PC is capable of a lot more if you assume everyone has a high end gaming console. But designing games for high-end PC users isnt economically viable, so they have to tone it down to run on more machines.

The PS3's power is barely being tapped so I dont see PC games having the edge for quite some time.

All sony needs to do is send a firmware update and allow in game XMB or atleast the friends list part of the XMB so you can see what they're playing and send msgs back and forth. Simple, yet immensely useful and capable of shutting up a bunch of xbots

I've just sold my 360 and bought a PS3.

I will say after owning both that :-

- Currently the XBOX Live implementation is well ahead of Sony's offering.

- The achievements on the 360 are something I miss on the PS3.

- The headsets to chat with you fellow gamers is also a plus for xbox360 (this functionality maybe out there for the PS3 but if so, I don't know about it. Hopefully it will come eventually).

- Also the games line up is better for the 360.

"So why did this Microsoft Fanboi sell his 360 for a PS3?" I hear you cry...

- The PS3 has far more potential as software developers get to grips with programming for an 8 core cell chip.

-The balance of power in the games lineup will shift to the PS3 at somepoint in 2008.

- The PS3 has far better build quality and hence sees nothing like the level of hardware failures that the 360 sees.

- Most importantly, the PS3 supports Blu-ray. Xbox360 doesn't. (360 games even come on DVD-9 only).

You can use any USB headset or any supported bluetooth headset. My Sony Ericsson HBH-GV435 works great but I still hope there's an official PS3 headset which communicates battery level back to the PS3.

That's the voice of reason speaking.

For a while I was tempted by the 360; then the failure rate became public and I thought I'd wait for the 65nm version _maybe_ late in the generation. Now Halo 3 has come out at a lousy 640p and I've decided not to bother with Xbox at all as the extent of the hardware limitations is clear. Bill Gates will still eventually get my money via Games for Windows for Halo 3 and so on, but at least I'll be able to choose decent hardware when the time comes.
