The Descent wins this going away in my opinion, few movies have ever terrified me like that.

In recent memory it has to be the Orphanage. I love horror flicks but I don't really get scared. This movie was kind of creepy.

agreed. Orphanage is a pure psychological horror film. cream of the crop.

For me its got to be either [Rec] or Paranormal Activity.

Its something about the hand held cam / real feeling about them.

When these type of films are made well they can be more creepy than anything.

The Descent was good scary film for me, Creep was better.

Only one film has ever given me nightmares, The Lady in Black, a BBC TV film made for Halloween in the early 80's. 20+ years later and I still remember the ending.

Horror doesn't scare me but I would have to say at least as far as jumpiness goes it would be Paranormal Activity or Pandorum

Paranormal and The Descent for true creepiness. The jump scares are just cheap and any clown could do that to me with an inflated paper bag at any time.

here's a good reason: when they were crawling through the cave tunnels, at one point, it became such a squeeze, and with all the twists and turns, that if she hit a dead end...she couldn't back out. i'm not claustraphobic but those scenes put a chill down my spine. this was before any of the "action" started.
