I think the low borderlands number is due to Uncharted 2, Demons Soul and Ratchet and Clank all coming out in the same month.

Uncharted did really well. PS3 did well. Hopefully, it can have the best of the HD consoles the next two months. I suppose any difference in America if 360 outsells PS3 the next two months would be made up in Japan on Dec. 17th alone for the worldwide market.

Wii has declined quite a bit compared to least year, even with the price cut.

Microsoft have been having temporary pricedrops to $99 at walmart and amazon. The xbox is almost guaranteed to outsell the ps3.

I agree, I think the 360 will outsell the PS3 in November because:

1) Arcade $199 with 100 gift card at walmart and amazon
2) 1 million (or something like that) XBL accounts were banned
3) MW2 bundle

Only in the US. And it's not surprising theres been a huge and calculated campaign to basically dreamcast the PS3. It's quite telling that since launch outside the US and UK the PS3 has dominated the xbox in sales in every other region. Therefore it's obvious the constant barrage of negativity has had a big impact on ps3 sales in the US and UK. But now it's even matching never mind outselling the xbox after the pricedrop in those regions after all the FUD must greatly worry microsoft. The time limited pricedrops of the 360 confirms that they're starting to be backed into a corner. What else can MS do?. If they fully pricedrop to $99 then that's there last roll of the dice this gen.

And Sony seem to have prepared meticulously for the pricedrop and beyond.

Sony published games for the start of 2010.

January: MAG
February: Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers, White Knight Chronicles
March: God of War 3, MLB:the show
April: Gran Turismo 5 (i'd guess at April), Wand and games

Actually in the US Xbox was quite successful, the reason it is seen as a failure is that it failed in all other markets.

As I understood it the 100$ thing was limited (just a handful per store) and Amazon didn't run it very long.

Given #2 is primarily pirates anyway...do they really want to start spending money on the console? Maybe they do but I don't know. Did the last round of bans massively increase 360 sales? I don't remember it doing so.

And #3 isn't guaranteed to increase sales at all, just redirect people.

So unless my thinking is wrong, #1 is <100K sales, some of which would have been sales anyway, #3 is effectively no change, leaving #2 as the big unknown.

And who knows, Sony may have a phenomenal Black Friday deal to cut into #1.

My gut says that it'll be very close either way.

Yes and i'm sure they have stuff planned for December aswell. Why Gran Turismo 5 isnt out this fall is inexplicable. Would of guaranteed huge sales and kept the hype building for the PS3. Instead we're left with a rather empty and mediocre fall lineup where MS are allowed to steal the limelight without much effort at all. I suppose the inexplicable part is typical modus operandi from Sony these past few years.

I said fall lineup. Only Uncharted stands out and that's yet another 1st party title that has had seemingly underwhelming sales compared to the quality of the product. It's big November, December title is GOW:collection i think that says it all.

I'm goign to go out on the same limb and say that imo the PS3 will outsell the 360 for both Nov and Dec.

Why?

Well, several reasons.
1) The MW2 effect is imo somewhat limited, because the 360 -already- has a huge population of FPS fanatics. It's nothing new in and of itself.

2) The GoW effect. The PS2 still has many users, that haven't made the plunge yet waitign for the big franchises to come to the PS3 and the price drop. The price drop happened, and GoW makes a great debut with GoW collection in 720p. Those same people begin generally fianancially strapped probably wait for a Xmas buy.

3) The 360 had a MW2 pack, but the PS3 has an Assassin's Creed II bundle. Granted AC is nowhere near COD in terms of fanbase, but I think that if you combine the effect of ACII bundle + Uncharted 2 + GoW collection, it's a big enticement for people who might still be waiting on the sidelines.

4) The Blu Ray push. I think the PS3 will benefit from this, with movies and players being discounted left and right, more and more people will make the plunge. With the Ps3 being a great BR player on top of a great Next gen console, it should naturally benefit from this.

To top it off, I doubt that the rumored 1 million people banned from XBLive will be so keen to buy another 360. Oh many (probably most) might do it (refurbished or whatnot), but I imagine a sizeable portion might be disgusted (specially if wrongfully banned) and switch to PS3 out of spite.

That was before GT5, MAG, Heavy Rain got moved to 2010. As it stands i think 2008 had a better lineup.

Yeah I also think the PS3 had a good fall lineup, it's just that with GT5 it could have been an "awesome" one.
