Thats how I showed my GF the difference because she didn't see it at first. She bought the POTC's when they released on DVD and then I bought a Blu-ray player and we compared. First the DVD, then the Blu-ray. She was amazed at the difference even though she didn't see the difference until I made the comparison in front of her.

Yeah, my girlfriend too. The problem I have is that the PS3 upscales so well and my girlfriend is blind as a bat! She actually thinks her old 35" SDTV looks better than my Sony HD RP! Ha! I had to do the side by side to prove mine looks better even on an SD picture. It's just that her TV is so bad that you can't see how bad the PQ is from the source. On my TV it stands out if the source is bad. Blown up to a 60" picture it looks horrible (yeah, she even likes to watch 4:3 stretched to 16:9...blech). It's even harder to get her to understand blu-ray though.....because upscaled SD DVDs look damn good too.....not as good as HD....but much better than cable or sat SD. I always have to point out the details that are missing on the SD. And of course the usual missing sides of the screen due to the SD TV being 4:3. No thanks, I like to see the whole picture......or live with a teeny tiny picture in letterbox! No way! I still have better than 20/20 vision at 38 years old and I'm going to put it to good use while it lasts! I want to see the whole movie the way it was intended to be seen and be able to see the background details.

Say to her "Well, you're only a girlfriend, not a wife. So while I value your opinion you haven't earned decision making priviledges yet." btw, dont' say that. It wont work. ![]() |

Try asking the manager at Wal Mart if they have any demo discs, sometimes they will just give it to you. That was how I got one for Fox, I asked an assitant manager at the one I work at. He said since was a demo disc I could go ahead and have it.

MonsterCable is running an offer where you get to mail in for a free Disney title - coupon in cable packaging. Mail-in form says that in addition to the Disney title you select, you'll get a free BluRay demo disc - while supplies last. Offer runs thru 03/08.
