Angry Anyone Else installed the newest Powerdvd update?

I just installed the newest update that Powerdvd told me I NEEDED to have. And now when I go to watch a BD, I click Play and then it pops up that I need to update again, I click Ok and it tells me I've already updated but the movie won't start. I click play again and the same thing happens...Anyone else havin this problem?

I should have never "updated" the damn thing..

Hmmm... Must go check...

What BD were you trying to play?
Does it do this with any BD you try?

ya. My player worked fine and then just starting yesterday i believe, when I'd go to play a BD it would say
"A critical component of the player requires periodic updates. New movies could fail to play if the critical componet is not updated promptly. Would you like to update now"
in a popup. I could ignore the popup and watch my movie fine but figured I should do it anyways.
So I installed the update and had to close down Powerdvd (I was watching Devil's Rejects at the time) and then when I loaded it back up and pressed play, I would get the same pop-up only this time the movie wouldn't play like it did before. When i click "yes" to update it says "player application update Update progress finished" but the movie still doesn't play. If i press play again, same thing happens.
I tried a different movie and the same problem. I was, however, able to watch a Bluray file that I had ripped to my Harddrive..

How long into playback was it before the box appeared?
Just ran a couple BDs for about 10 minutes each(and one from HDD) and still no update box.

I'm at a loss.
Blow it out and reinstall.

Problem happened to me. Any new Blu Ray isn't working atm. So far I can play all of my older Blu Ray selctions. But I have this problem on films such as The LookOut and Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Default Yeah, I did, and now I can't watch several movies...

... including the FF disc, while other discs (Hellboy, King Arthur) just show pixalated images when attempting playback. Older blu-ray discs still seem to work (Underworld:Evolution, Kingdom of Heaven) but newer ones don't, leading me to believe this is a DRM issue. Remember the hooplah about Blu-Ray DRM being cracked because of the Cyberlink software a few months ago, and promises by Blu-Ray execs that they'd "fix" the "problem" by updating software on the new discs? Looks like they've fixed it all right. Anyone have any positive experience with this new "update"?

(BTW, I don't have windows popping up asking me to update the software -- apparently the update worked, as far as the software is concerned; which is to say, it's turned my Blu-Ray Dell into a movie-playing brick.)

If someone has a solution to this, I'd love to hear it. Right now, I'm happy I didn't buy a blu-ray player for my media room. Thank god nobody's "fixed" my HD_DVD player.

I'm in the same boat with my Dell M1710, I'm going to give intervideo a phone call and ask them if their player works for 70 dollars, and if it supports BD+. At which point I'll buy it and begin watching my movies again. This is a huge disappointment for me, especially considering my blu ray player add on my laptop is easily 450-500 dollars. AND IT DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE.

What OS? I have XP Pro SP2 lately its starting to have error. I know at least 6 people are have the same problems. Bill Gates way of say buy Vista.
Bad fix update path or defect disc.
I like WinDVD it performance better than PowerDVD. I have WinDVD 7 platinum.
When I install drivers or software. I turn off my anti-virus.

Default Solution to get your old movies working with PowerDVD after update.

I had the same problem. My girlfriend and I were on a flight when we tried to watch FF ROSS. It did now work with PowerDVD on my laptop. So I tried Stranger Than Fiction and Weeds. Both did not work either after trying to play FF. So after reading all the forums I could. I tried several things and this is what worked for me. FF ROSS still does not work, but my old BD are working now.

1. I uninstalled PowerDVD.
2. Reinstalled PowerDVD.
3. Applied the patch on cyberlink for PowerDVD Ultra.
4. Tried to play a movie, it said you are attempting to play a BD, please download the latest patch for PowerDVD Ultra.
5. Applied patch.
6. Stranger than Fiction and Weeds are now working.

I have a Sony Vaio running Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit.

Just like I thought. FF:ROTSS is a BD+ disc and A LOT of stand-a-lone players can't read it without firmware updates.

Sounds like this newest "patch" from cyberlink is the firmware update to allow playback of BD+ discs.

Now why it didn't install properly for me, I don't know...But I dont have ROTSS to try and really don't care, I just want my old BD collection to work again!
