Default 3 Years of AWESOMENESS!!! Happy Birthday PS3!

As some of you may recall, yesterday was PS3's 3rd birthday!

What are some of your favorite PS3 moments? Taking home that precious bundle of joy...memories made with family, friends or significant others...funny stories...favorite upgrades or improvements...making new PSN friends...epic gaming sessions...share it here!

(Sorry for the slightly misleading title, but "3 Years and 1 day of AWESOMENESS!!! Happy Belated Birthday PS3!" just didn't look as good!)

Good times

My most Wow moments have been my first Blu Ray in the PS3 (300), playing MGS4 for the first time, and going through Flower for the first time

Most epic gaming moment so far: The train scene in Uncharted 2 and the Mecha escape in MGS4

MUH FAV CONSOLE EVAAAR!!!!11!1!

This means that 3 years ago today... I was really depressed that I couldn't actually afford a PS3... then I laughed when someone got shot for one... then I got some cash for turning 18 and spent the whole $800 on PS3 and accessories.

The PS3 was awesome from launch because there were NO kids at all! no whining or name calling, haha and of course then I signed up here and met so many awesome people!

Awesome! I remember when I first fired up that bad boy. I love the new content in the Playstation store. Looking good!

On a side note, today is Mickey's 81st B-day!

Geez, 3 years already? Seemed to go by so fast, especially as the devs are now taking advantage of the console's hardware.

At first, I disappeared into Oblivion for a bit, and the DVD/PS1/PS2 upscaling features were awesome when they dropped.

I read most people that put deposits there didn't get a PS3 for a looong time), and by November 14th, there were 25-50 people in line at each BB and CC in the greater Los Angeles area. Our(my fiancé's and my) next thought was Target, but they weren't letting anyone wait on the premises. I had to work the next morning, but he was off, so he drove around a bit, and found a Wal-Mart with TWO people in line (to buy one console) and he got in that line. Over the next 51-ish hours, we took turns and shared shifts, turned down monetary offers for our place in line, walked around Wal-Mart and the shopping center, watched portable DVD players, played PSP and GBA SP, had pizza parties with other people in line, bought Resistance and an extra controller (that Wal-Mart put games and accessories out a day early) and had a surprisingly good time at Camp Wal-Mart. Then at midnight, they let one person at a time into the store, and by 12:15ish, we were home with our new bundle of joy, checking out the PS forum's Official I Got Mine Thread. Then we went to sleep because we were both exhausted! Then we set it up the next morning and played Resistance and watched the Talladega Nights blu-ray that was included! Just yesterday I was thinking about how our baby was 1 1/4 years old

I remember getting scolded by the wife for spending so much money on a video game console... when she saw me yank her memory card out of her camera and throw pics and music on the screen she said, "you know, that thing is pretty damn impressive..."

best win ever

Actually, I kinda hated the early online multiplayer days! I tried R:FOM online and got my @$$ kicked by the other super-hardcore early adapters. I didn't really get back into online multiplayer games until LBP came out...then I was hooked!

I remember a couple years ago, I didn't get why everyone on this and other forums were whining about needing in-game XMB. I had the original Nintendo in elementary school; back then, all you could do was play and pause. If someone wanted to play with me, they'd knock on the door. If someone wanted to communicate with me, they'd call me on the phone. Fast forward to early 2007, I didn't play online multiplayer much and didn't know many people in real life with PS3s yet, so my friends list was small. I didn't change my XMB comment for months at a time. Sending messages to those few friends while playing a game just didn't occur to me.

Nowadays, I can't imagine co-coordinating Uncharted 2, Burnout, LBP, Fat Princess or even PS Home sessions without the magic of in-game XMB. I get at least 20 messages a day and send quite a few too, usually whie in-game or in-browser. I didn't even know I wanted it until I had it, and now I can't live without it. Thanks Sony!

PS: kan eye has cross-game voice chat nao?

Ah how time has gone by. When the PS3 came out I was sad I couldnt afford one. I stuck to my 360 that I had. Then came July 2007. I saw the footge of RE5 at e3 and then the price cut happened. I bought one ASAP. My tv had problems so I went out and got an LCD. I was addicted to blue instantley, and I got Uncharted: Drakes Fortune 2 weeks early and was in gaming bliss.

Have always been a Sony guy. Really wanted one but couldn't because I didn't have the money and I was in my final year or school so decided i'd wait till after I graduate.

Glad I waited because I wouldn't have been productive at all during the school year.

Hey nice thread Steph!

I remember when I first got the PS3 in Aug. 2007 and how amazed I was when I watched my first Blu and played RFOM... Had been waiting to upgrade from my PS2 until the price dropped on the PS3 some more... After playing some over at a friends I had to cave and went out to get the 80gig Motorstorm package... a few weeks of bliss with my new toy, followed by some regret as the priced dropped down considerably in the following weeks, but that passed...

My 60GB is in the coffin waiting to see if I ever get around to try the DIY (I can't deactivate it since it's YLOD, but can't download watch videos from the video store). Ugh.

Lasted from 12/28/06 until 6/2/09. Lots of great memories. Got it the week after my daughter was born. Can remember going into Target to get something or the other for the baby and seeing they had 3 PS3's! I grabbed the last 60GB, grabbed the stuff we needed and rushed home. I recall going through the various photo slideshows with her pictures on there when visitors would come to see her. Drew a bunch of wows.

I remember lusting for the satin silver PS3 they showed at E3 in what was it, 2005? ah the baby I was never able to get. 4 USB in the front, 4 in the rear, multiple gigabit ethernet. PS3-X where are you?!

I remember popping in the first Blu-ray (Blackhawk Down and Kingdom of Heaven) and being blown away, going full swing into the format war - previously already had the HDDVD add-on for the 360.

Remember finishing off several PS2 games (GTA: San Andreas and Battlestar Galactica and GOW2) thanks to the PS2 BC.

I remember Folding at Home and how cool the idea sounded.

Remember lots of great times with various games and Blu-ray (inviting friends and family over for "movie night" since I have the biggest screen and best home theater setup).

I remember stripping all the screws attempting to get the original 60GB drive out.

Remember waiting for the "big updates" that gave us DVD upscaling and DTS-HDMA

Remember the wait for PS Home and being stoked I got in on the closed Beta. Then they opened it up a week later lol. Remember opening my HK and JPN accounts, too.

Remember the victory in the Format War, thanks to the PS3.

I can remember the days I used to turn on my 360, which is few and far between.

Remember the day I got my Ceramic White DS3 months before they were available locally.

Remember getting my triggers from Amazon is a giant box.

I remember the day it went YLOD. 'sniff... I was like nah, not me. I remember going a week with no Blu-ray or PS3 games... heard the rumors about the Slim... they finally announced it and the price drop and I rushed and got a Drake's Fortune old school bundle.

I remember the bliss I was missing out on, though a bit less trusting in what I considered the greatest piece of engineering in a perfect home theater device.

Now I'm back to hoping I'll get a US release satin silver PS3 with PS2 BC, be it slim or no.

highlights of my ps3 experience:

wrestling with spending all the money on one of the early models @ $600

finally getting it home and starting it all up, piggybacking my neighbors wifi to update the firmware (shhhhh!)

my afternoon @ best buy fighting with them to give me a fair replacement on my PS3 when i got the YLOD and brought it in for the warrantee replacement plan

my first platinum (fallout 3! )

playing rock band with my mother, awsome!

the original wildcats jam!

replacing my hard drive and storing all my music and video on my PS3 for easy listening/viewing

so heres to many more great memories with a great console, because it only does everything!
