Best display LCD or Plasma for gaming - Blu-ray Forum

I'm trying to help a friend buy a tv that will work best for his gaming needs. I'm not sure what game he was playing since I'm not a gamer but something similar to a Street Fighter style game. He said he hooked up his ps3 to a Vizio LCD and he had some serious lag. Not sure if the refresh rate or what. I am not current on my display knowledge anymore. Will plasma work better or is there a LCD that will not give any lag. He said something about when he does combos on a fighting game then he notices that he would need to press the buttons earlier. something like that. Any advise would be appreciated. thanks.

I'm not a gamer either...... but I think both display technologies have advanced to the point where blanket statements like "LCD is better for this" or "Plasma is better for that" don't always hold true....... Regardless of whether he wants to play games or not.... he should look for a display with the best contrast, black levels, refresh rate, and largest size..... within whatever budget he is willing/able to spend.

Plasma. Preferably a Panasonic or Pioneer.

Panasonic plasma. No lag, no motion blur and has great black levels. Also, great reliability and superior customer service. You can find some great deals on them next week.
