Default Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 or JBL ES250PBK

I am in the market for a new sub and so far I think I've narrowed it down between these too. The JBL is $40 cheaper... but I'm not sure if it's more powerful thant he Klipsch sub or not (Amazon says the JBL is 400 watts, but it doesn't say if that's the RMS or the peak), where as the Klipsch is 300 watts RMS, 650 peak (or dynamic, as they say). The Klipsch is also downfiring, though I wouldn't say if that is better of worse (the sub I'm replacing is a much less powerful downfiring Boston Acoustic sub). If there is anything else better in this price range (no more than $400) I'm open to more options...

I wouldn't buy either, better subs out there for the money. Paradigm, SVS, ED ect. you will get a full list soon by other users.

This would be my choice in your price range and would kill both the subs you mentioned.

I'd like to stick to something offered by Amazon as I have a lot of promo credit there already. I didn't see the Paradigm sub on their site...

I can speak for the Klipsch Sub-12 and I can tell you it hits hard. I loved it so much I had to get two of them. If there is a Bestbuy near you, you can go listen to one of them.

The Energy ESW-V10 is 300 watts rms, 1200 watts peak, and extends down to 23hz +/- 3db. It's also a really tight and "musical" sub.

http://www.energy-speakers.com/na-en...pecifications/

I've seen it as low as $299 USD.

Thats true. I listened to this guy, and am not disappointed . I got mine for $300. Check out Best Buys near your place, they're on clearance these days.

Well this doesn't help if you plan on going through amazon, but i will second that vote for the paradigm DSP sub, i actually had purchased that sub, and it was too much for my apartment at the time lol.

Had it two days and had to take it back for the more subtle ultracube. But that Sub posted above definitely new how to shake the house, i regret the trade in now as i could definitely get away with that where i am living now.

Well I went ahead and went with the MartinLogan DYNBLD Dynamo 10-Inch Subwoofer since it was on sale for $325. Not as big or as powerful as the other speakers, but I'm guess it has a better build quality which should make it a better speaker? it's got some pretty good reviews so I'm sure I will be pleased with it either way, I might get a couple of those floor standers that are on sale for $500 this weekend to go along with it...

That's a very good sub...definitely better than either of the other two. It doesn't get as low as some others out there, but its sound quality and tightness is pretty superb. Its a very musical sub that I'm sure you will love. You may want to get a second one if you have a larger room. I myself run two subs to get a more even response across the room and the results are excellent. Congrats on the new sub!

Great choice. I'm glad to see the Dynamo down to a more manageable price range.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for this to drop back down, so I could get a second one.

Well I got it today and... wow, such a huge improvement over my old 8" 100 watt Boston Acoustics sub. I would have to say that this one speaker made the single most noticable improvement in my entire HT, and I haven't even watched a movie yet! I listened to the radio just to make sure it was working, then I played Forza 3 and even with the thin turned up about 40% it sounds worlds better than my old sub, much clearer and with much more thump. I think I made the right choice.
