Default The Nostalgia Thread

Here's a thread to share anything you might happen to be feeling nostalgic about, whether it's an old toy, game, movie, TV show, event, etc.

Since many people here seem to fall into roughly the same age group, it will be fun to see what other people post, and we may be reminded of stuff we'd completely forgotten about.

I'll start it out with:

Pocket Rockers

I had one of these things back in the 80s, as a little kid. It was basically a little battery-powered mini-cassette player, with a built-in speaker. Each mini-cassette had two songs on it. It was awesome.

Mine was the same coloring as this one:

The tapes were sold individually, like this:

Here's an old commercial:

I remember those. They were big at my school for a few months (like everywhere else, probably), and I even had a plastic pog making "machine".

The problem is I hated playing by the rules, because I didn't actually want to lose any of my pogs.

Weren't some of those cards actually stickers? Or were they all stickers? I never got a pack of them as a kid, but took a few from friends.

I always saw the movie in the video store, but my mom would never let me rent it.

You know Voltron is worth like $500 for an original set in ok condition? I wish I still had mine. I had the Ewok Village too.

Yeah they were actually sticker/cards. I personally don't know anyone who peeled them though. I still have a box of them in storage somewhere.

I guess I'm a little older than most here. I actually got into gaming before consoles were in every household. I started out with these handhelds.

Some of my other favorite childhood toys: Tonka Trucks.

I had a dump truck and some sort of crane thing.

I used to kneel in the dump truck, and use it as a scooter.

And I'd use one of my little figures from the M.A.S.K. toys as the driver of the trucks (since they had little openings to put toys into the driver's seat).
