Default Trouble installing a Blu-ray Optical Drive

Right, so I have an Acer Aspire M3201 with the default tower as one could imagine. However, I'm having trouble removing the metal slide in front of the bay cage as of to fit the actual drive in. Now, I'm no computer expert and I'm rather inexperienced in the field of upgrading and fitting new things. Do I only need to take off the towers side, or both the side and the front? I've already tried removing the front, but it seems that it is connected to a non-detachable surface within my computer. With no way of accessing the screws without gutting the thing I'm kind of stuck. Does anyone have any experience with adding drives to this particular model? If so, any help is appreciated.

Have you checked the owners manual? I know with Dell PC's, you have to take the front plate off first.

It didn't come with a manual as it was bought second-hand and the guy that owned it previously forgot to include the manual. I've scoured the internet for an online copy of it, but no such luck.
