Hello all, thanks for taking a look.
![]() These are my components:
I'm having some issues playing DVD through my PS3. A few minutes after I begin playing a DVD, the picture will begin to flicker in and out. It's a solid static image that pops in and at first, it doesn't cover the entire screen. It'll begin as a bar or two but as I allow the DVD to continue playing, it ramps up to the whole picture and will eventually turn to a whole, black screen. What's really throwing me off is that this doesn't always happen. Some days, I'll fire my system up, toss in a DVD, and it's smooth sailing. Other times, like tonight, it's a bust right from the get-go. I suspect the problem lies somewhere within the receiver because when this is happening, the PS3 functions like it normally would. I'm able to stop the playback and return to the PS3 home screen. Once I do this, the flickering ceases. Could the PS3 still be at blame? I guess it would make sense if its DVD reader is defective. Anybody experiencing any issues like this? I searched these forums and did some Googling but came up empty handed which worries me. This hiccup aside, I've been very satisfied with the RC160 and haven't had any other complications. I don't think any of my hardware is faulty so I'm sorely confused. Side note: the only DVDs I've attempted to play are the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia series but I don't see what difference that would make. |

Well, it saddens me to say that the flickering occured on the PS3 home screen this morning without a disc in the drive. I had just turned it on and was going to test a different DVD. It has to be an internal malfunction but I still can't determine if it's on the PS3's end or the receiver's.
![]() Gonna look into borrowing a 360 from a friend today, running it into the DVD/BD input slot on the receiver like I do with the PS3, and then I'll see if the glitch persists. Also, just the record, I don't leave any of my equipment turned on. I power everything off when it isn't in use. |
