Quote:
Peter Jackson says Tintin film is 'finished'

By Mark Savage
BBC News entertainment reporter

Steven Spielberg's Tintin film is in the can, but it will take two years for the computer animation to be completed, producer Peter Jackson has said.
The Lord Of The Rings director told the BBC: "Tintin is great. It's made. The movie is cut together and now [we] are turning it into a fully-rendered film".
"So the movie, to some degree, exists in a very rough state."
The director is in London for the Royal gala premiere of his latest film, The Lovely Bones, on Tuesday night.

This sounds fantastic to me, 2 years to work with the CGI sounds astonishing to me.

Even the cartoon I got in in French here, Tintin as always been French too me so it's going to be a bit strange, unless the dubbing in French is extremely well done

Beowulf needed about a year and a half to finish all of the effects, so it's possible that Tintin needs two years.

They didn't tell you?

Michael Bay directed some of the scenes.

Since Tintin was created in 1920's I think it would be more fair to say of Johnny Quest "Think of Tintin goeas USA"

I think going into a CGI type of movie like Christmas Carol make sense. I've been a fan of Tintin all my life but I can't see how they could truly translate it into "live action" and make it serious. It should look good in computer animation.

Just like P@t, I've been waiting for this one a long time, 2 more years is practically nothing for me to see Tintin and Milou on the big screen. Good people attached as well, looking really forward to this.

I think it's great that you fans are looking forward to seeing this. A breath of fresh air to see this response rather than people yelling about raped childhoods and all that.

Didn't realize this was going to be animated though. Thought it was a bit weird when I heard Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the "twin" detectives. I was really curious how they were going to pull off having them look identical, but if it's all animated, I guess that'll work.

I'm honestly a little weirded out by the concept of an actor portraying an animated character in an animated feature though. I guess that's what some areas of the industry are leaning toward though, huh? Seems to me that I'd rather have my animated characters be animated by animators who could fine tune the performance, even if motion capture is used as the starting point.

Anyway, has there been anything revealed on the art design of the film? Is it going to be more realistic or more cartoony? I mean, is Tintin going to have realistic eyes, or black circle pupils? The Wikipedia article said the people would look like real people (pores, hair, etc.), but also said it would look like the world of the comic. I don't think that would work too well. It'd look alien I think to have cartoony humans with a circular head and black circles for eyes, and yet have highly textured skin, hair, and clothing.
