Considering all the other things WETA has going on, I'm not surprised.

I think going into a CGI type of movie like Christmas Carol make sense. I've been a fan of Tintin all my life but I can't see how they could truly translate it into "live action" and make it serious. It should look good in computer animation.

I think it's great that you fans are looking forward to seeing this. A breath of fresh air to see this response rather than people yelling about raped childhoods and all that.
Didn't realize this was going to be animated though. Thought it was a bit weird when I heard Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the "twin" detectives. I was really curious how they were going to pull off having them look identical, but if it's all animated, I guess that'll work. I'm honestly a little weirded out by the concept of an actor portraying an animated character in an animated feature though. I guess that's what some areas of the industry are leaning toward though, huh? Seems to me that I'd rather have my animated characters be animated by animators who could fine tune the performance, even if motion capture is used as the starting point. Anyway, has there been anything revealed on the art design of the film? Is it going to be more realistic or more cartoony? I mean, is Tintin going to have realistic eyes, or black circle pupils? The Wikipedia article said the people would look like real people (pores, hair, etc.), but also said it would look like the world of the comic. I don't think that would work too well. It'd look alien I think to have cartoony humans with a circular head and black circles for eyes, and yet have highly textured skin, hair, and clothing. |
