The Onkyo receiver is very solid, but I'd go with a Pioneer Elite VSX-91/92/94TXH receiver. Well, one of the three depending on your Wattage and HDMI input needs.
The Panny Blu-ray player I might have recommended about 6-8 months ago, but now that we have all these great 3rd generation players coming out, I just can't recommend it. And last but not least, if you are hell bent on getting a plasma for your next tv, then don't settle for second best. Might as well go for the knockout punch with a Pioneer plasma (to perhaps match one of the Pioneer Elite receivers). They are the ultimate machines within that technology with unsurpassed image quality. Now that it's price has come down, I'd recommend the Pioneer Elite PRO-FHD1 which is one of the greatest plasmas ever created. You can get it around $3000 online. Or....... Get the 60" KURO model# PDP-6010FD. It's their latest masterpiece. Of course that one will set you back about $6000. |

you actually made me feel a bit more confident purchasing the elite 91, so thanks. my budget for the a new 1080p tv is about $3000-$3500. was deciding between the sony 60" a3000, panny 50 or 58" and i did look at the pioneer plasma's, but they are big money for them. i know they are really good, but looking to buy something great, but affordable. thanks again |

http://review.zdnet.com/flat-panel-a...ag=api&subj=re BTW, normally I don't consider myself a fan of plasma technology, but when I saw the picture on the FHD1, I was floored. It has the best color, contrast, clarity/sharpness of ANY flat panel television I've seen to date.(LCD or plasma) |

Just so you don't get confused.
The PRO-FHD1 is a 50" 1080p plasma that sells around $3000 online right now. The "KURO" PDP-6010FD is a 60" 1080p plasma that retails for $6500, but it is on sale at Best Buy for $5850. It also has a 50" version, the PDP-5010FD that retails for $5000, but it is on sale at Best Buy right now for $4500. Here are a bunch more online price comparisons for the PDP-6010FD: http://shopper.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...-32575967.html It is sold for as low as $4217 + shipping of course. That's still a great deal though. |
