Default Wife goes on expensive shopping spree

She goes out and spends $1500 on a Philips 42 LCD, entertainment center, and a 1,000 watt Philips Bluray surround sound.

What do I do with her?

Sounds like the exact same gear I started with! What HTS of the Philips line is it? With Blu-ray player, too?

I sort of - miss my old Philips 47" Ambilight TV.

What model TV is it?

$1,500 isn't bad for this, though.

Although, I will say next time send the wife through here first,

Well, I must say, her HEART is in the right place !! Unfortunately, SHE wasn't in the right place when she spent $1500 on about $800 worth of HT equipment. For $1500, you could get a 50" Panasonic Plasma, an Onkyo 7.1 AV Home Theater System, and a great piece of furnture to store it all in !!!

My wife got me a Bose SoundDock for X-mas a few years ago. It's not great, and she paid too much because it is Bose. Not worth it. Would have rather had a pair of bookshelves and a 2 ch amp to hook my iPod into.

My wife knows better than to shop for me without a specific list.

Just like I know not to shop for her without a specific list.

My Amazon Wish List is always up to date with items that can be purchased from there. More expensive items she just has me go get for myself and says it is a gift.

After the Bose Christmas morning incident where I threw a huge temper tantrum that would have impressed any 3 year old. Then throwin' back a bottle of scotch and then throwing empty bottle at the tree while hurling accusations that she just doesn't understand me, we have come to the same arrangement.

Okay that's not what really happened. I hugged her and said thank you and told her I loved it. But in my mind, I was thinking great what a waste of cash.

This year I bought my Marantz SR6004, I paid, and the empty box with a tag will go under the tree; for me, from my wife. Great Deal. Last year I got a PS3, same deal, got it a month early and I paid. Perfect!

BRO... you cannot have your female buy electronics all they look at is the price!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my house if you spend more then 100.00 on something you need to ask the MAN first.....one reason i dont let females buy me clothes ....cause what you like is not what i like. And most salesman focus on females being by themselves and they are targets cause any MOFO can sell them a rock and say its a diamond.

My suggestion is you need to get your women in check....especilly if your paying all the bills

goodness
this is an awful thread (and just to get it out of the way, no i'm not a woman all out of sorts because of this). i am a married man, and i feel terribly sorry for all of your wives...you spend all day talking trash on them on here, while apparently they are simply trying to get your approval and obviously make an effort to get something you will be excited about. grow up. it's just sad to see these poor women get trashed on this website. it just seems to reinforce how awful men become when they are in a group. not trying to be a douche, i simply can't imagine how these poor women would feel if they stumbled upon your forum posts....

Ask her to sign up here and other ht forums so the next time she shops for ht stuff she'll know what's good value.

When money is in a single account, and since I am married, it isn't like she is spending her money. It is our money. 50-50 I should make sure it isn't wasted on stuff I don't want and will never use.

Money is too hard to come by. We should be careful with how we spend it. At least buy stuff we want. Sure in her eyes, I waste $$$ on BDs, HT stuff, and other hobbies. And I know for a fact, she wastes $$$ on shoes, clothes and purses. But somehow in her eyes, that crap is worth it.

Sadly I got my new AVR for X-mas, and she is planning on spending the same amount on a purse. Even though a purse from Walmart or LV just holds stuff and spending a grand on a purse is ridiculous. However, I don't have a leg to stand on and can't complain or stop the fact that I have to pay for an LV purse. Sorry, there is no I, it is we.
