I thought it was amazing as well. the only horror movie that impressed me more this week was Dawn Of The Dead. I would totally suggest both of these.

I watched it Friday night and thought it looked terrific! Very detailed, much better than I was expecting for a film of its age. Definitely worth checking out!

A bit grainy compared to newer movies...but from what I understand, the majority of the film stock used in the 70s had that kind of grain.

I thought it looked incredible, though. It was a really great disc.

Picture was GREAT!! Sound could have used come reinforcement in the center channel with dialogue, but the overall improvement with the sound and picture was amazing!!!

I concur that this title looked awesome considering it was an independent release in the 1970's...

I know a lot of people were upset about the color shifting of the night scenes, but quite honestly I don't think for me personally it detracted from the overall effect...

The greatest part about Halloween is that Carpenter can create such an excellent amount of tension with a level of precision that has not been duplicated in a long time....

The SQ was also pretty sweet considering that originally it only had a one channel soundtrack...

Overall Anchor Bay did a great job.

Thumbs up

i watched Dracula last night (very nice transfer, but not perfect; not because silly "dark" complains, but some scenes are in pretty bad shape, like prologue) and Halloween after it... GOD, HOW DID THEY DO IT??? HOW 1978. INDY MOVIE CAN LOOK LIKE SOME IMAX BRAVURA?? WHAT MAGIC IS IN THIS? Yes, The Searchers are awesome, but still u can see it is an older movie... but this looked as sharp and vibrant as Casino Royale!!! Incredible job!
And of course, movie itself is a cult classic, needless to say...

Well the picture quality IS good when comparing it to previous releases of the film. It's the best the movie has ever looked and probably the best it will ever look.

That being said, this is by no means "reference" material for showing off Blu Ray. While the transfer is good, it's not flawless. The picture does not posess that razor sharp image that say, Casino Royal does. Nor does it possess the 3d image quality that Apocalypto has. Plus there are still some annoying artifacts present. For example, the bedroom scene with Jamie Lee Curtis where she sees Michael standing at the clothes line staring at her has a very annoying hair at the bottom right of the screen. It's there in every dvd version I own and I was hoping it would get cleaned up for the blu ray release. There's also dark scenes where you see artifacts.

I'm not trying to be nitpicky or anything. I just don't think the picture quality needs to be overhyped. It is not a 10/10. I would rate it somewhere around a 8/10.

Agree w/most of what steelmaker just said. I've only watched a bit of it so far but it's def. not demo material.
