The rumor that a 2012 BD SB was in the works for FS Canada has now been confirmed by the new purchaser for FS...

...I feel pretty confident there will be an "exclusive" Blu-ray SteelBook™ for the movie 2012 in the near future. As more information gets posted, I will update this thread, including any pictures.

Note: It is likely that the Canadian release will feature 2 discs, as opposed to a European release featuring only 1.

Ian has been very coy in his postings, but the overall impression is that he has a lot in store for SteelBook fans in 2010.

I would expect several major releases to have SteelBook exclusives. Just look at how many have been released in December alone.

It is almost as if he is trying to get every major release into a SteelBook since he posts excuses for the ones that he misses (e.g. THE HANGOVER, GI JOE, etc)

What are the big movie releases next year? IRON MAN 2? That would have a December 2010 video release which is why he said it is still a bit early for that one.

With 2012 bringing in so much at the box office worldwide, im sure we will see this in UK and Germany also, and maybe another 4 other countires too

I thought the special effects were outstanding.

Looking forward to this, although i think it's not going to be out until at least the end of May 2010.

Not confirmed, but they'd better. They used the 12 Weeks of Disney to go back and do all the Pixar and (animated classic) Disney titles currenty available on Blu-Ray. If they don't continue with it (there are only 4 Pixar to go), they'll be a lot of dissapointed fans. The remaining Pixar are also some of their best (The Incredibles, Toy Story 1 & 2) and most popular (Finding Nemo).

In the Disney Animated Classic catalogue, I've also heard rumours on a Disney-related forum that Fantasia, Fantasia/2000 and Beauty & the Beast are expected to hit Blu-Ray in 2010 (along with the aforementioned Dumbo). All of these should be released as Steelbooks, as well; to go along with the existing Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Pinocchio releases.

Wings-the special effects in 2012 were virtually flawless. I loved it, and I look forward to seeing this again, with Steelbook treatment to boot!

No guarantee. I was just replying, with the big releases coming out in 2010. My fingers are crossed though
