Looks pretty good.

Might go for that since our privately run censor cut a scene down up to now for video. And the UK has no Bluray of course.

Quite nice cover -but the censor keeps busy in Germany too as we can see.

Welcome to the world of European prices! Every new blu-ray is that price and more over here.. (in stores at least!)

That is why I buy most of mine from the US. Even with shipping, it is cheaper than Irish store prices.

Yes! I own it and it says A/B/C on the back. Just haven't had time to watch it yet

Any bonus features at all? The domestic DVD at least had a trailer--is that still there? And I notice the cover says "Full HD 1080", but is it 1080p or 1080i?

I sure hope it's 1080p. I just put an order in for Rob Roy via Amazon.de. I don't see why it wouldn't be 1080p. 1080i doesn't seem to be nearly as common in Germany or France as it is in the UK and Alliance (out of Canada) has a number of 1080i garbage

It's 1080p and there are no features or trailer

Thanks; I'm a freak about keeping bonus features so, if the trailer isn't there, I think I'll just hold out for now for a domestic release because I don't want to store both my old DVD and the new BD...

I just watched it today.

The menus are in English and are easy to follow.

The video is quite impressive- while not up to Braveheart standards (what is?) the film boasts a very pleasing film-like image with a lot of detail, good black levels, and a real sense of depth to the image, something that I haven't seen in some time. The film grain is small and unobtrusive, as an 35mm anamorphic production should be. I didn't see any signs of noise reduction. I would give it a 4.5/5.

The English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track is also good for a film of this vintage. The rear channels are used rather sparingly but the wonderful score is very rich sounding, a huge improvement over the DD 5.1 track on the DVD. The rifle fire gets a nice LFE boost and sounds intimidating and loud, as it should. The only nitpick is that the center channel is mixed a bit too quiet relative to the rest of the channels, but it isn't a deal breaker. I'd give it a 3.5/5.

I'm not a huge fan of the movie as I found it rather inconsistent as to what the focus was, but it was still entertaining as I'm a big Liam Neeson fan and John Hurt and Brian Cox are always fun to watch, and the period setting is interesting too. If you like the movie, it's a definite buy.

This film is censored in the UK (rape scene) and I prefer to watch what everyone else is watching despite the content/context.
