Default Solution for jumbo pack Steelbooks (like Up/Monsters)?

Is there an easy way to replace the jumbo spine with a standard one? Also, are there custom spines for Up and Monsters Inc. that we can print out?
Thanks for any help.

Yeah I scoured through that entire thread to find it ... guess it was just your lucky day. Should've started from the last page as opposed to page 1 .. ugh! I have no idea about a Monsters one but maybe James who made the cool custom artwork covers could make one up next time he gets that inspiration.

His Wall-E steelbook is WAY better than the official one. I don't know why Disney didn't go with the original poster.

How did you print that or make the spine?

I was sent the design, I simply saved it onto my pendrive, took it to a printer and he printed me a sheet of them. I cut and trimmed then simply placed over my old (damaged Gladiator) spine.

lol, some of you guys must really hate those Jumbos. I have to admit, they're my least favourite type of Steelbook as well (mostly due to the fact that they're more likely to come damaged inside, with no way of knowing 'til you actually buy and open it), but I wouldn't go so far as replacing it with a non-official version, either.

I was lucky enough to get mint versions of the only two Jumbos I have (Up and Monsters Inc.), and I'm confident that the won't be damaged or break inside now that I've got them home and into a safer environment than packing/shipping/stocking/etc. I hope they stop using them, though. If there are 4-disc sets in the future, why not just use a regular Steelbook with 2 discs stored on each side? There are regular-sized 3-disc cases with 2 discs on one side, and a single on the other... would it be so hard to make it 2 doubles instead?

Never understood that either and since we have a scanavo insider on the threads now, i think i will go and pose the question about this. Could be that if they try and fit 2 doubles together the SB might not collapse shut... who knows

The hubs would hit if you put two doubles together. It may not close right, and even if it did, it would cause the discs to release from the hub, so you could end up with a floating disc(s).

The hubs must be offset and there isn't enough room in a Blu-ray case for four discs.

Now, if they would switch to a 8cm disc for the digital copies, I believe they could get four in a case. A DVD2 would have enough space to hold any of the digital copies released to date, so a DVD5 is total overkill. A DVD2 would need less plastic to manufacture, result in less waste when it ends up at the dump, just better all around.

It would likely cost more to manufacture and assemble a DVD2 with the remaining discs being DVD5/9 size.

Hey Blu Boy, great job on that!

What kind of material is it printed on, and is it smudge proof?

Can you please take a close up of the spine only and post a pic.

Thanks!

Here is the slimline spine artwork for Monsters Inc, thanks to Jamesaevans. Both look gorgeous. Also below are 2 artwork designs for Up.

I like the look of the slim.

I hope they discontinue future release of these Jumbo packaging.

May I ask where can I get those thin plastic holoder for the discs?

Blu-Boy in BKK, I got two big favors to ask you - could you please upload those spine artworks bigger, so that they would fit the actual spines when printed? And the second one - could you make/obtain a spine for Snow White? I hate the blank spine... Thanks in advance!
