I am not that big of a gamer so I really don't care that much. I did just get a $1150 bonus from work, so I might be getting a 40gig PS3.
totally, i mean, seriously, genesis and snes did it... why can't we all get along? more choices = happy me

as long as those choices don't go red and blu... because blu is what i am.

Massive oversight's on my behalf I have to admit.

Oh and to those asking why I didn't mention HDDVD vs Blu-ray, well, I don't really think there's any comparison. blu-ray is clearly the better format by anyone's measure.

And the fact it comes FREE with the ps3 instead of having to buy a $300 add-on was definitely mentioned in my post as a major negative for the 360.

PS3 will have more longetivity, the games will get better and more frequent and hopefully not just ports of 360 games. Plus a PS3 is way cheaper than getting a 360+hddvd addon. Plus Blu-ray is way better, and way less hassle free than having a seperate drive connected through usb.

Oh by the way, I failed to mention the Xbox 360 is by far the loudest appliance I have ever heard.

I agree with your points, but in case you left it out (also too tired to read the whole thing, just highlights), is the xbox failure rate... And that is the main reason I no longer own my xbox and traded in my 360. I did not experience the failure rate on either console, however, I wasnt gonna wait till I have an issue My PS3 has not let me down with crashes, overheating, or any other issues that people have mentioned on other boards.

I think the new 40Gb PS3 has the 360 on its knees. As long as Sony get the message across about what you're getting:

PS3 £299

HD movie player
built in wifi
media storeage
web browser
online gaming for free

Xbox360 Elite £299

No HD movie player
no built in wifi
reduced media storeage
no browser
paid for online gaming

To match the PS3 you need to add £165 to the price!! (and a second external power supply)

The only remaining difference is the hard drive capacity; the PS3 can be upgraded any time. MS are still charging £65 for the 20Gb drive!!

Sony are about to start a UK wide tour demoing the PS3's non gaming features.

So really, the Xbox360 is seriously over priced for what MS are giving you.

Microsoft ended up budgeting over 1 billion dollars to fix the red-ring-of-death problem. This shows you how the XBOX360 was rushed, and released early to cash in on eager next-gen gamers. If the PS3 and XBOX360 were released at the same time, this post wouldn't even exist in my opinion.

Yes and if my aunty had testicles she'd be my uncle. Like I was saying, at this stage, and yes almost entirely due to the fact M$ has been in the market an extra 18 months, the 360 offers a better gaming experience to the consumer in my opinion

why isnt MGS4 1st on the list of exclusives for the PS3? This is, arguably, the most anticipated game that will be released exclusively for the PS3

Yeah, as I said, that was an oversight.

That was funny! I agree with you...right now. By the time Home comes out, I will have to completely disagree about MS offering a better gaming experience.

I still believe that the PS3 offers the best overall experience (console experience) right now.

lots to read lots to write, but im just gonna keep it real short cuz its like 6am

gears of war/bioshock are on the PC id rather play my FPS on the pc if i have the choice, and Halo3 will porbably be ported eventually no rush in my book, other then that i cant really comment on anything else with the xbox since i dont have one but my only reasons for getting them always get released on the pc

cons for ps3, i wish the online content was more expansive but then again i could always surf the net and find what i want from there, and no AVI/ac3 support (ye ye linux but theres PQ issues with that) that's my only gripe with the ps3... as for games i guess it comes to personal opinion so far im loving all the games ive tried

Xibox does have some great titles and a very stable on-line experience. Sony is catching up though.

You left out 1 MAJOR CON about the 360.....the reliability issue. approx 33% repair rate is to much, Sony at this point is around .02% repair rate. I haven't bought a 360 because of these problems. I simply do not have the time to deal with the nonsense.

MS does MILK the add-ons to make more $$$, i'm not interested in dealing with tht either.

PS3 is for the future and I'm going to rides its wave.

You didn't give enough props to the recently released PS3 games in your list..like..Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Lair.

Many, Many, Many GREAT PS3 titles to come, so stay tuned and buy a Blue-ray movie.

Does everyone seem to forget that while the PS3 is a high def gaming/movie machine Sony didn't think to throw in high def cables? I'm not bashing the PS3 (I have one and I love it) but I feel that supplying a high def system with composite cables is kinda milking people too.

Exactly. I just feel that if you are going to advertise as being HD, it should be HD out of the box without having to buy anything.

I had mentioned this point a while back. Microsoft may have alot of money, but a Billion for anyone is going to hurt. And with that said, one of my boy's x-box 360's just got the ring of death last week. Waiting to get the box from UPS to send it in. Up to 4 weeks wait time I was told when I called it in.

This is the 3rd time in 2 years!

They were initially costing to much per unit in the beginning to included hdmi cables. The composite cables would be compatible with ALL tv's.

I personally glad they gave us the option of Component and HDMI.
As I did not have a 1080P tv or HDMI reciever at the time of PS3 purchase.
So I was able to do Component until I since upgraded both pieces of hardware.

Very smart on Sony's part IMO, Free HDMI cable would have been nice but I suppose they did eat enough of the cost for us to begin with.
