Default Harry Potter Franchise

Alright so I really enjoyed the first 2 films... didnt like the next 2 so much bust also dont remember too much... Im thinking of watching the 5th one in but really am trying to remember if it is important I see 3 and 4 again first so I can be accurate in my opinion. Is there a lot of continauty (how the hell do you spell that or is it like the Bond films?

Thanks!

It is spelled continuity. I have only watched the first two Potters myself, so I am no help on your other question.

There is a level of continuity, and you do need to remember events from the third and fourth films for the fifth film (or else you will just be confused). They don't retell the plot like some films do either of prior films and expect you to remember.

Bingo they don't go back at all to explain things. I say is a must for you to remember becuase you are going to be lost IMO.

I agree with the others here. It isn't like the Bond films save for the most recent 2 which are one storyline. The series is basically a long epic like Lord of the Rings with the convinience of being slip up by years of school. Maybe 24 is a better example, that has convinience too "They said it will happen within the hour" Everything happens within an hour lol.

To sum it up, you can get one of the later films but it REALLY helps to see the others.

Watch them all in order. The overall Voldemort plot is intertwined with each individual movie plot. To leave gaps in your memory will work against you in understanding the whole of the movie you watch next.

Cheers,

Doc

I liked the first film ok, did not care for the second and have not been back since. Maybe I will revisit these someday.

Fear of the name only increases fear of the thing itself (unless you've read book 7 and know that it's more than just fear)

If u like 1 and 2 but not 3 and 4 ur prolly not gonna enjoy the rest. The brilliance of the series is as the children mature the themes mature with them. Each movie is darker than the last so if u want the light hearted silliness of the first too, u wont find it.

Exactly! - If you stopped at 2 you are really missing out - I didnt like 3 or 4 until I watched 5 - 5 begins to tie EVERYTHING together and really presents the entire series as an adult story. You will have so much more appreciation for each previous movie. After I watched 5 - the 3rd went from my least favorite to my most favorite. This series is great!!

i liked the first 2, didn't enjoy 3 much, 4 was my favorite of the movies, 5 was enjoyable, and 6 was downright terrible. all my opinon. to answer your question yes there are big things that happen in 3 and 4 that you need to know to understand 5.

I like looking back at the first couple and thinking (wow, this kid had no idea what he was getting himself into.)

I think the second ones the best, it becomes darker than the first one, yet still as fun and can stand on there own but most importantly kept the MAGIC. The later ones can't stand alone and have lost the MAGIC

i agree that the first 2 potter films are by far the best. they're the only ones that show Harry as Harry. he is excited to be at hogwarts. he has the "gee, this magic stuff is neat" smile. after, that he shows up to hogwarts like Peter showing up to work in office space. part 3 was ok, but 4-5 were mediocre.
