That is an impressive list- another Disney afficiando! I have a weakness for most things Disney, because I have fond memories of growing up watching Disney's Wonderful World of Color on Sunday nights as a kid. Of course the animated features are the best, but I will watch even the cornier shows like "The Love Bug", "The Cat from Outer Space", and (one of my guilty pleasures) "Gus the Field Goal Kicking Mule" if they are on a cable channel. Some shows, like "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" have a high degree of quality. They are a nice escape from the daily dose of bad national and world news.

Yeah man I have seen A LOT of the old classic live acions as well and always felt they were really hit (The Love Bug, Pollyanna) or MISS (Summer Magic).... I was a big disney addict though and still really enjoy having a nice Disney collection.

I can't be as in-depth as the OP was but what I am finding is that as Disney is releasing these on Blu, I'm gaining a new appreciate for them considering most of them I haven't since my childhood such as Pinocchio and Snow White.

Being said, my top 5 fav animated features (excluding Pixar / 3D stuff)

1. The Lion King
2. Pinocchio
3. Aladdin
4. The Emperor's New Groove
5. Dumbo

Robin Hood had fun action and great comedy for the whole family... Im not surprised someone is jumping on me for disliking Fantasia but the hate for the Hood is unjust IMO... and BTW when Fantasia hits BD I will be giving it another try as im sure it will look AMAZING

I have fond memories of Sunday nights and Disney's Wonderful World as well. It was the final pleasure of the weekend before returning to school on Monday. I remember sitting in front of the television and hoping that the episode would feature a cartoon. I also have fond memories of the early days of the Disney Channel. I loved watching the old Mickey Mouse cartoons and the old Disney movies like Darby O'Gill and the Little People, Blackbeard's Ghost, The Absent Minded Professor and others. If they would introduce a classic Disney channel that aired these types of programs I would be willing to pay a premium for it.

I dunno. I need to see them all recently again, like the OP. Some of the ones I have seen recently I can't say have stood up that well. Not the animation or the music (the music is particularly impressive compared to current animation fair), but at the end of the day these are kids films and I don't really care for most of them any more.

That said, I saw Beauty and the Beast, Mulan and The Lion King within the last few years and thought they were still increadible (particularly the former).

Disneys animated features have always been an important part of my cinmeatic life , from sitting in front of the big screen when i was 5 seeing The Jungle Book to the jaw dropping The Lion King.
Like the OP ill break mine down into favourites and the ones IMO are there best work.

Favs.
1. The Jungle Book
2. One Hundred and one Dalmations
3. Snow White
4. Beauty and the Beast
5. Fantasia
6. Peter Pan

The Best
1. Snow White
2. Pinnochio
3. Fantasia
4. Bambi
5. Peter Pan
6. Beauty and the Beast

The only one I have never seen is Lilo and Stitch , they did go through a period where the art did seem to suffer from the early 70s up until the release of Beauty and the Beast.

The OP left out three films in the official Disney canon (per Wikipedia, UltimateDisney.com, and the official Disney Animation site):
  • Bambi (1942)
  • Oliver & Company (1988)
  • Chicken Little (2005)

Terrible, almost pointless, episodic script. You slap on some recycled animation, you've got the laziest, cheapest, most embarassing, cost-cutting Disney animated feature of all time. It's a miracle the film is even watchable.
To be fair, the movie was more last-minute patched-together out of failed projects than "Home on the Range" (and I apologize to HotR for saying that, as that one's actually pretty good):
The project was originally going to be a Southern bayou Robin Hood--which explains why we have Pat Buttram, Andy Devine and Roger Miller in Sherwood Forest--with most of the swamp-critters eventually recycled for "The Rescuers"...Then, when the setting went back to England, they wanted Tommy Steele as Robin, but the voice just didn't work out.

But today, all most people remember is how sticking Phil Harris in the movie as a hip, goofy bear one more time was the final nail in the coffin for realizing that the Ron Miller era really had spent the last ten years just remaking "Jungle Book" critters over and over, because they didn't know what else Walt Would Do.
