Default Bookshelves as fronts

Who else here uses bookshelf speakers as their front speakers?

i have definitive technology bookshelf speakers throughout my room and they sound great. i have a 7.1 receiver, so i can always add two towers later on. but i am definitely satisfied with the sound i got.

There's nothing wrong with using bookshelf speakers. Often a good pair of bookshelf speakers paired with a compentent subwoofer can hang with or even sound better than a pair of towers.

I have bookshelves and a sub run off the pre-out fronts. Small footprint for the front stage, plus full rich sound. A well executed system with small fronts can sound amazing

I heard the Paradigm Titan Monitors and I was astounded by the sound of them. Those were without a sub and it had great bass. I heard music and jurrasic park and both were great sounding. There were mini monitors for rear surrounds too that sounded great, all coming off a Yamaha 2700. I would definetly do a bookshelf setup.

Yep. I have no problem with the sound of mine.

Size <> Sound Quality

my previous setup was a creative T7700, so i was basically using satellites! and male and female sounded alike

any way u can have a good setup if u have excellent bookshelves (that can handle the dianlog) and a powerful sub(s) u can have a good setup.

it's about having a uniform and complete representation of the audible sound range within the setup.

but usually towers have an edge when it come to power, u can't find 500W rms satellites.

My fronts and rears are the same. For movies, I think it is great.

If I was more into music, I'd get some full size fronts. but even when I do listen to music the sub picks up the slack and the litttle B&Ws I have sound very nice in 2 CH.

I use bookshelves as fronts and am more than happy with them. I have a small room and they completely fill it with ease. I will eventually upgrade to towers but not until I move to a house and out of my apartment.

I use bookshelf speakers for my fronts. They sound very good. I have them on some stands, so they are about the height of floor standers. I would take some Polk Audio LSi25 or LSi15 towers, but can't afford them, so I'll keep using my bookshelf LSi9s.........

bookshelves are okay for front speakers, just don't expect them to sound the same once you blast them, they stress a lot easier once you reach a certain volume level

I have bookshelves as fronts and am very happy with the sound. Never had them become "stressed" at any volume. As mentioned, it helps to have good subwoofers.

That depends on what speakers you have. Mine have had some very loud volumes on them at times, and they aren't stressed at all. When you pay $1000 or more for a pair of speakers, they better not stress because of volume. If they did, the company probably wouldn't last very long, once word got around.
