The sound through your TV speakers will sound absolutely NO DIFFERENT with HDMI than with any other source, because it will ALL be 2.0 stereo through your tiny TV speakers. With your system set up as it is, there isn't much you can do. You need to set your system up as recommended with the speakers where they should be. And without HDMI to your receiver, you're not getting the Blu-Ray lossless sound ( Dolby TrueHD and DTS MasterAudio ). Ideally, all of your components should be hooked into an AV receiver via HDMI with a single HDMI run from the receiver to the HDTV. Your TV should NEVER be used as the hub of your components.

If the Philips has an optical input run an optical cable from the PS3 to the Philips and keep your HDMI going to the tv from the PS3. You can change the settings in the PS3 to have video through HDMI and audio through optical or regular a/v cables if the Philips doesnt have the optical input.
Without getting a new receiver that will be the best you can do. |

I'm thinking of getting the Sony BDP-S360 player. I have a Samsung 42"HDTV. The thing is I only really watch TV etc with headphones due to paper thin walls. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I'd go about hooking up the audio from the player to the TV? Or what I can get to make the quality great with the use of headphones? regards.
