Hey everyone

Just wondered if anyone has heard anything about this coming to bluray anytime soon? I have a reaaaaally bad dvd of it, by Contender Entertainment or something like that, and want to upgrade to the 2-disc version, but if there is a blu soon I won't bother

Anybody heard anything?

Cheers
samdaman94

I'd guess sometime in the Spring most likely.
like May or June for UK--maybe a bit sooner for the French version.
you can follow the French version thread in the France forum, and it should get a date within the next few weeks I would think.

StudioCanal is finally releasing this in the UK in September, along with a host of other titles

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-T...Blu-ray/10492/

Really like their cover for it:

I just spent loads of money on the Criterion version so I'm not sure I'll be getting this, but hopefully it'll be just as well restored!

Looks to be multi regional from the disc image.

Who knows, my GUESS is that it wouldn't be, because that transfer would belong to Criterion (and is a transfer they had done FOR them).... even if they don't have the film rights I don't think the transfer they have is just out there for the grabbing. But who knows. I doubt it'll have as many extras either.

My expensive US Third Man blu ray arrived in the post today, same day I find out about this, haha. I debated keeping it sealed and re-selling it, but decided to keep it, hoping that it'll end up being the superior version.

I'll probably do the same thing although it will be tempting to open it. Paid a fortune for it. Not something I would do for any other release, but a criterion release. Chances are it will have a better transfer unless Criterion sold their transfer to Studio Canal when they lost the rights. Its going to be hard to wait to find out whats in this release and how the transfer is.

Differing opinion here... It's great! It's from a French poster in the '50s.

I quite like the new artwork to be honest!
I currently have this DVD so I'm used to it...

hopefully it's region free so it'll lower the prices of the Criterion version. i have a sneaky suspicion the criterion will still have better PQ

The Criterion Release is going OOP so it will be worth a fair amount of money for quite a while. StudioCanal have purchased the rights to the film in the US meaning it will most likely become part of 'The StudioCanal Collection' of films to be released through Lionsgate sometime in the US.

DVDbeaver did a comparison of the 2 releases, our release isn't as good as USA's it would seem.
