Default Blu-ray goals

So what are your blu-ray buying goals for the New Year & beyond.

Im attempting to buy all the Terminator movies for $5 each, already have Terminator and T3. Also I want to upgrade most of my dvds to blu at $10 each. My other goal is to break the 100 mark with 100 blus in my possession. Im doing pretty good having just acquired my PS3 in September and appraoching 75 BD's.

We had a similar thread with this, but anyway... my goal is to stop buying SteelBooks, and blind buy BD's, and focus more on saving and not looking at the hot deals forum.

There's maybe a few more SB's I want, but I'll stop right there.

I got spoiled with the Amazon Black Friday deals. And the prices of some new releases. For the DVDs that I want to replace, I'm looking at 7.99, no tax, no shipping. My goal is to be patient and wait. Many of mine that I bought right after release, $25-30, I saw them a few months later drop to $12-15.

If I have it on DVD, and it is not a movie in my sig, $7.99. New to my collection $14.99 at the most.

We have similar goals with regards to the 100 BLU mark being surpassed and replacing all of my DVD's with BLU. I figure with the prices of BLU dropping so much...why not. I also want to acquire several box-sets if they drop down to the right price, such as: Bourne Trilogy, Spiderman Trilogy, X-MEN etc...

Ya I'm definitely focusing on saving now. I don't buy on first day anymore. I usually wait until there is a price drop. Blind buys rarely happen now. As for steelbooks. I only have 9 bond movies on steelcase. It's the only collection I want on steelcase and i don't even know if they will continue to release those.

Cut down on blu Ray movie purchases to fund more hardware purchases. New projector, panamoph lens , new screen, new marantz separates and an oppo blu Ray player. The prices of movies this holiday have spoiled me. I'm not paying more than 10 bucks for a blu I want

Need to upgrade my TV. Looking at this one-
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=12164806

Want to get some Fronts. May get some Sony or see if my Dad will let go of his old Advent's that he has had since the '70s.

Doing good on the not blind buying front but I don't buy much that I do want to own. Want to get to 200 by my birthday in August.

I can do that. LeAnn is getting me Energy C200 speakers for X-Mas so I'll move my existing C100 to the rear and I'll have a 5.1 Setup

Okay, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who finds the idea of having Blu-ray Goals a little nutty.

That's a great deal. Audio makes all the difference. Most people that don't have at least an entry 5.1 don't know how much they are missing out.

We all have goals whether we realize it or not. A home theater experience just happens to be what this forum is about.

That's what we all say, "I'll stop or slow down after this", but we don't, damn bills are the only things stopping me from more.

I definitely like this thread!

2010 blu goals:

1. Don't buy any blu over $19.99 (unless it's a box-set or a really great collector's edition)

2. No double dipping on something I just recently bought (that means if I bought it less than a year ago, not going to buy a re-release again... unless it's Toy Story haha)

3. Get my collection past 100.

4. Don't get so caught up with buying blus that I don't have money for bills, food or other junk.

5. Don't buy a blu just because it's "7.99 at amazon right now!"

6. Genres to focus on: sci-fi and action.

Best of luck to all.

I'm in the same boat in regards to the size of my collection. This year I anticipate the following will happen...

1 - Collection up to 100-115 (currently at 71), not really looking to have a huge collection.
2 - Upgrade my 3 year old Samsung 32" 1080i LCP to a 40"+ 1080p LED
3 - Upgrade my sound system from NOTHING to a Zvox 550 sound cabinet (not really looking for 5.1/7.1 right now)
4 - Prey that my Samsung BD P3600 doesn't crap out (so far so good)
5 - ZERO blind buys with the exceptions of Red Cliff.

let's see what happens
