My Sony BR player will not display a movie. The audio signal is being sent to my amp - I hear the movie menu music. The HDMI input jack is fine - I switched my HDMI cable from another source over to this jack and I viewed cable.
So, it's not the disc (tried several), it's not the TV, and I'm getting audio out. When I power off, then back on, I get the Sony BRP screen, but then it goes black when autoplay starts the movie. The unit was one year old last month. I figured there's a thread buried in here somewhere on this issue, but couldn't find one with a quick search. Thanks for any help! |

So is this player new to you or have you had it one year and it just started giving issues? That's not real clear in your post. I've tried helping a few people in the past with this problem but people never seem to come back and post whether the problem was corrected or not to help others. The first thing to check is the output video setting of the player. The HDMI auto setting may or may not work. You should be able to hook it up via component so you get a picture and change the setting to what your TV supports. There's a button on the remote if I remember correctly that you can press to toggle through the resolutions if you want to try that first. You'll have to look at (or download if you don't have it) the user manual to find out what that button is. I'm on my lunch break at work right now or I'd do it myself.
If you've had this player all along then this probably isn't the issue. You could try swapping the HDMI cable itself with another one. This has been an issue for some in the past and it's not real clear if this is something you tried or not. |

It's working now. ????? Powered it off for awhile and now it seems to be fine.
I've never updated the firmware. How could that cause a BR player to have problems? |
