Here is my insane problem... I want to keep buying new games...
I want to get God of War I & II because I did not own a PS2. I want to buy Bayonetta for the X-Box 360. I have not even loaded Uncharted 2, I have played the first level basically of Batman: Arkham Asylum on the X-Box 360 and I have the most recent Prince of Persia on 360. I have a ton of X-Box Live Arcade games that have barely been scratched. I have two daughters (4 and 6)... I still play basketball 2 days a week... I work 40 hours a week... I HAVE NO TIME FOR GAMES... Why do I keep buying games that just sit there? I just wanted to basically see if anyone else is in my boots too?? |

I'm in the same boat.
When I was a student, I had more time to play than I had money to buy games. Now I buy games I haven't even time to boot up once. Simple solution: as soon as you see there are at least 5 games you've barely played in your cupboard, stop buying games until you've had time to tackle those. That's why I haven't bought games like FFXIII and Uncharted 2 yet. I'd love to play them and have the money to buy them, but the point is moot since I don't have time to play them anyway. thus is the life of a working family man ![]() |

I was in the same boat! I had Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 5, Prince of Persia, GTA4 and i hadn't even started any of them, and if I did, it was just the first 30 minutes. I finally said enough is enough! Finished Uncharted, bought Uncharted 2 and finished it, started AC and finished it, bought AC2 and I'm almost done. All in only the last 2 months! Now I gotta decide whats getting flipped next!

my problem is i want to buy 2nd games in the series when i haven't even beat the 1st ones.
i make myself beat the 1st ones before i buy the 2nd ones....that way, i usually get lucky and the 2nd ones are a bit cheaper by the time i buy them too!! ![]() |

i only play online football, ONE fps at a time & gran turismo
no need to buy or look at any other games. start narrowing what you like and dont buy as much. there is no need to have 35 games and you only play 3 and say ;ill get around to the others' if you havent been playing the game then you just dont like it |

I did the same thing for a while, buy a bunch of games and never started them. What you need to do one day is make some time and throw a game in the PS3. Just make that leap and get started on 1 game, and after a day or 2 you'll be glad you're playing a game again, which will soon turn into finishing a few.

I'm in the same boat.
I bet musashi is like me also as we're both actuaries. Work 40 hours a week and then 6 months of the years devoted to studying. When the study season picks up I buy like ten games to play when it's over and only end up finishing a couple of them. Right now I have MW2, Uncharted2, Demon's Souls, God of War II, AC2, R&C2, Pixeljunk shooter. And I have some old ones too like bioshock, fallout, gta4. UGH. |

I'm with you man, its tough...
I have Fallout 3, GTA4, and Assasin's Creed I that I still haven't even put in my PS3 yet. Not to mention FIFA 10 that I've put about 1 hour into so far. I still want to get Uncharted 1 & 2 and AC II... I probably won't even ever play Assasin's creed since I heard it was a bit repetitive. Not to mention Little Big Planet that my GF is buying me for XMAS so we can play a game together ![]() I have been putting some serious time into MW2, so I should scale that back a bit and play through one of these other games... |

I preordered Valkyria Chronicles and I haven't even opened it yet! Let's see, NBA 2K9 & Madden '09 were both day 1 purchases that I barely touched. Rock Band 2 is unopened. Bought the collector's edition of GTA IV and played maybe an hour. I bought an XBOX 360 from my brother-in-law's co-worker with Gears of War 2, Halo 3, and Left 4 Dead and I've probably played all three a total of 1 hour.
My problem is i get stuck on one game and i can't stop playing it. The games I've played the most are Oblivion & Resident Evil 5. |

I have a pretty big backlog as well, and it will get 3 more games added to it after Xmas + Bayonetta in early January.
I have told myself (and my wife) that I won't be buying any other games in 2010 other than a few must buys (Final Fantasy XIII for one) although she wants me to buy Uncharted 2 since she liked the story for the first one so much (and I played that last week for the first time). It won't be easy though, since the first 4 months of 2010 have about 8 games I want and 2 I am interested in but waiting for reviews on. |

You are certainly not alone. I wish I could stop buying games but I love to purchase them knowing I may not play them right away. The problem is good games keep coming out and I also find myself returning to my favorites, even if I've already completed them.
I've probably played through Drake's Fortune 8 times and Among Thieves 3 times. I love to replay Dead Space and Resistance 2 as well. I'd like to run through MGS4 again and Prince of Persia but I bought Modern Warfare 2 and haven't even played that yet. I bought Dirt 2 and Need For Speed Shift and haven't played much of them either. So yeah, you're not alone. I bought God of War Collection because I never played the PS2 versions and I want to play them before God of War 3 comes out, but they just aren't holding my interest compared to my favorites. But I keep on buying. Here's my list: 1) Assassin's Creed - played for a few hours (not my cup of tea) 2) Battlefield Bad Company - played for a few hours (have better shooters) 3) Bionic Commando - played for an hour or two (annoying gameplay) 4) Borderlands - played for a few hours but really like it 5) Burnout Paradise - played for a few hours (too hard to figure out where to go) 6) CoD 4 Modern Warfare - loved it and played it through 7) Modern Warfare 2 - haven't played it yet 8) Dead Space - loved it and played thru multiple times 9) Devil May Cry 4 - played it thru 10) Dirt 2 - played for a few hours 11) FEAR 2 - loved it and played thru several times 12) Ghostbusters - meh played a few hours 13) God of War Collection - played for a few hours 14) Guitar Hero 3 - loved it and played it a lot 15) Guitar Hero World Tour - Liked it and played a lot 16) Guitar Hero Aeorsmith - haven't touched it ($10 at Best Buy) 17) Heavenly Sword - liked it and played a lot but I hate button timing sequences 18) Killzone 2 - loved it and played it thru several times 19) Little Big Planet - played for several hours but not my thing 20) Lost Planet - haven't touched it 21) MGS4 - loved it and played it thru 22) Mirror's Edge - played for a few hours 23) Motor Storm Pacific Rift - haven't touched it 24) Need for Speed Shift - played a few hours 25) Ninja Gaiden Sigma - loved it and played a lot but too hard (stuck at end of airship) 26) Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - played very little but I can see it's stupid hard 27) Prince of Persia - loved it and played it thru 28) Ratchet & Clank Future Tools of Destruction - loved it and played it thru a few times 29) R & C Future Crack in Time - loved it and played it thru once 30) Resident Evil 5 - loved it and played it thru a few times 32) Resistance Fall of Man - loved it and played it thru a few times 33) Resistance 2 - loved it and played it thru many times 34) Soul Calibur IV - haven't touched it ($10 at Best Buy) 35) Street Fighter 4 - played it maybe 1 hour 36) Force Unleashed - loved it and played it thru a few times 37) Time Crisis 4 - meh it's ok played a few hours 38) Hawx - played less than one hour 39) Tomb Raider Underworld - good enough to play thru once 40) Drake's Fortune - loved it and played it thru many times 41) Among Thieves - loved it and played it thru several times 42) Wolfenstein - liked it well enough to play it a good amount but have't finished it And that doesn't include the PSN games which I've put a little time into. I just picked up an Xbox360 and about 5 or 6 of the popular exclusives, so I've got even more to play now. Sigh. Last edited by Warjack Prime; 12-23-2009 at 03:23 PM. |

I used to do this. It can be a great problem, because if you can restrain yourself then by the time you get tired of Modern Warefare 2, then Drake's Fortune will be $39.99 at Gamestop used. I have a 3 year old son, so my days of spending 48 hours gaming are over. I remember when I'd see someone playing a 2 year old game and think to myself "What a loser" lol
Don't fall into the trap of buying new games, especially if you haven't played the ones you have. That's consumerism at it's worst. |

![]() Yeeeah...I'm going to file this under "Not an issue." Here's a crazy idea: don't buy games until you're ready to play them. By then, the price will probably have dropped significantly anyway. |

I currently have the largest backlog I've yet had- just finished Dragon's Age, am playing inFamous, just got Oblivion GOTY for $9, Saint's Row for $5, and picked up Assasin's Creed 2. For me, that's a lot. I'm a sucker for good deals, and will frequently pick up games on the cheap- even Dragon's Age and inFamous I got for good deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
From someone else that's "sort of" having this problem, try and only buy games that are a deal. I have a friend that BIG TIME has this problem- he buys the games on release day and they sit on his shelf. I buy them when I'm ready to play them (usually) and save $20-$30 in some cases. If you only grab games when they're on sale or have a good deal, you'll at least keep your backlog to a minimum and more money in your wallet. It's still not a fix for your problem, but it'll cut down on all of that. |
