Warner Prepping December High Definition Discs

Warner Home Video is currently prepping 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation,' 'A Christmas Story' and 'Scooby-Doo: The Movie' for a simultaneous December release on HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

All versions will be presented in 1080p video; however, the HD-DVD versions will carry Dolby Digita Plus audio while the Blu-ray versions Dolby Digital audio - as has become the norm for Warner. Full disc specs including extra features (except for Scooby) can be found by clicking through the disc details below.

All of the titles are expected to carry an SRP of $28.99. We'll update this news with a definitive release date as soon as Warner makes it official. Stay tuned.

I'll be getting National Lampoon's for sure, not sure about A Christmas story.

I'm long since burned out on Christmas Story.

Now if Paramount would hook me up with Scrooged and Disney hook me up with both Santa Clause films...I'd be all set for Christmas.

Haven't we stablished that HD DVD DD+ tracks and BD DD tracks are both 640kb/s 5.1? Or is HD DVD using higher rates and more channels now?
I guess adding a + or a "new" on the front of a box always brings more customers..

Paramount is using 1.5Mbps for their DD+, but I believe Warner is using 640 for both HD-DVD and BR.
Hopefully they'll start going lossless soon (both of them)

I don't know how we go from Warner's December titles to FOX's iRobot, but I too can't wait for iRobot to find a release date. That's a definate purchase for me.

'A Christmas Story' and 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' will be released simultaneously on HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc December 5.

I agree, same with the holiday music. I think it is overplayed to much. I will get Scooby doo though.
