Best places to buy used nes and nes games

i am looking to buy a used nes but don't know what would be some places to go.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you have an Amazon account, the Marketplace isn't bad (for certain games...some are ridiculously expensive). eBay of course is another option.

Also, if you have any pawn shops near you I would look there.

Some cities have used game shops that deal in that kinda stuff, it is tough to find in smaller towns though.

Anywhere from $5.00 to 10.00 bucks. Some can go a bit higher, but not by much.

If you're looking to get an actual NES console and cartridges, it's hard to beat eBay for price. If you own a Wii and are just looking to get some of your favorites, the the Virtual Console option is pretty good for that, as jadedeath mentioned. Plus with that method, the games work 100% of the time (i.e. no blowing on the cartridges and whacking the console, etc.).

If you're going to get a console, I highly recommend the top loader, as the way it loads games is much better than the older style ones, and a cart works almost every single time you load one...unless the cartridge is trashed, of course, which is rarely the case; usually it's the console that's messed up.



The only downside is they don't come with RCA jacks like the original ones did, but I know people who can modify them for fairly inexpensively if you want that option on yours. I've actually got three of these top loaders: two that are modified and one that isn't.

I have a local shop that deals in games, old and new. Their name is Slackers, and I have purchased a few games from them for my original NES. They even have multiple copies of Contra in stock right now! It is where I repurchased Zelda!

I used to hit up flea markets and pawn shops to find NES games, but over the past few years, the NES selection is dwindling. eBay is probably the best place now.

I currently have 302 games.

I love Slackers. I try to get by there in the Chesterfield Mall, I think it is, when me and my wife visit her family outside of St Louis. Their prices can be a bit high at times but they do have some good deals to be found if you look hard enough.

I know your into retro gaming, have you seen this yet? I'm seriously considering it. I bought the NES version a few years ago and loved it. Got it for $20, much cheaper than I could find a top loader for. I need this new one because my Genesis is going a little flukey.

If you do decide to buy a used console that's a front loader, I'd strongly recommend replacing the 72-pin connector in it. That connector is what causes the flashing lights when trying to load a cartridge due to the connector degrading over time. You can find new 72-pin connectors on Ebay for around $10 or so. http://www.jandar.net/nes72pin/

That's what I did with my front loader. The new connector was pretty easy to install and after that, it worked like new.

by far the cheapest route.

hit up some garage sales in the spring. thats where i get my old school stuff. usually get a system with 10+ games for like 5-10 bucks

I have seen those before. They're pretty sweet. I have this weird OCD thing about having to have the original consoles to play games, though (with the exception of emulators). I should probably just let it go and grab something like that. It looks like it's really portable, too, which is cool; definitely more portable and easily hook up-able to any ol' TV than a computer with emulators in it.

chronoclast's idea about replacing the 72-pin connector is a pretty good one if you're the tiniest bit handy and into a little DIYing. It's a pretty easy fix, and it's a good one that lasts.

I have some of the classic Nintendo games for all platforms. Nothing huge, just a couple literally.

Wii

NES is the classic! However, the Wii does a damn fine job of moving the classics over to the new system. If you don't mind, go that route. If you REALLY want an original NES, eBay. Just shop around. Many deals to be had. Also check your local Craigslist. There are at least 5 ads for them.
