I wanted to open a thread and keep it clean of garbage... There will be no discussion on films liek Avatar being Best Picture or how Awesome Michael bay is.. Hopefully this thread keeps clean of that type of stuff so I can discuss quality movies with people who appreciate quality films

Anyway, not sure what constitutes "quality,"

but I've been trying to make it through the AFI Top 100 list (the 1998 one, not 2007) and have about 40 more to go. Just saw The Deer Hunter last night...that tore a hole through me...

That is an outstanding movie, its on my top 100 list for sure

Lawrence of Arabia is an experience that is for sure, As well as Doctor Zhivago, but I prefer Arabia a tad more

Quality is subjective you realize. Especially in regard to entertainment.

As they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure. So your entire thread concept is flawed.

Although I agree with you 100% you're fighting a battle that can't be won. Namely, "quality" is subjective when it comes to movies. Second, you come off like a snob. Which, in all honesty, you are. So own it. It took me a while to come to terms with the fact that I'm a snob too. So perhaps the title of the thread should be "Movie snob discussion" or something like that.
