Default Blu-ray sales are pounding HD DVD

so much for Transformers helping hd-dvd. Never underestimate the blu-ray camp. There bogo free and other offers are giving hd-dvd a surprise they did not expect.

check out the sales rank of blu-ray vs hd-dvd

Just watch the bounce that HD-DVD will get this week, not just with Transformers, but with their other titles as well.

But let's remember, what bounces up, must come down and from looking at those numbers, it looks like HD-DVD is loosing air!

Wouldn't it be crazy if we have a 70% week, I mean that would be crazy. HD-DVD just quit now, there ain't no point of continuing.

Aren't all the purchases done today (Sunday, October 14th) counted in the week before Transformers comes out? Neilsen counts from Monday to Sunday of each week then releases the numbers the following Friday.

You have to give Disney and Sony a ton of credit for this. A win this week will ensure a full year of software sales lead. What a great great move. I have and will continue to take advantage of these great deals this week.

I will be buying more Blu-Rays this week, you know we have to give a good fight against those turds over at the HD-DUD side.

As far as I know folks, the totals from Sunday do not count in the retail week for the Tranformer's week; I hope I am wrong. Also want to point out that Fry's does have a BOGO HD DUD sale this week (2 for $27.00)...just glad to see that there are only 21 titles on that BOGO list. Also glad to see that some other titles on Blu-ray have moved up on the list for Amazon. Go Blu!

It is pretty SAD that so many of the loyal Blu-Rayers went out and bought product today, even though it was repeated over and over again that you should wait at least until Monday for the sales to count.

It really is quite a disservice to DISNEY who are now carrying the flag against Transformers.

I predict a fierce opposition from the Transformers crowds come Tuesday morning.

It is monday in some parts of the country and these sales are lasting a few more days. Either way its going to help blu-ray and these sales numbers will continue for another day or so.

Only because it's this late at night...most people bought early today and they will not count towards this week's Nielsen numbers. I'm with Pro-B, it feels like a disservice to DISNEY and SONY to go out and buy when the numbers will not count and the two companies are doing their best to off-set Transformers.

I'm not going to inconvenience myself just so numbers look better. Even if Blu-ray slaughters HD-DVD this week, it's not going to end the format war. It all comes out in the wash.

This is true, I'm waiting also. However, from all indications, I'm hearing people who have bought six or eight today and are planning on buying a couple more before the week is over with...why do this when you could buy them all this next week and have them all count towards the off-setting of Transformers (even if you don't get paid until later this week, you could still get them all together)? I'm starting to wonder if we have some fanbois posing...of course, I have no evidence of that, but I'm just stating a feeling.
