Samsung Blu Ray is loud - Blu-ray Forum

Has anyone else noticed that the Samsung is kind of loud? I was wondering if this was normal. You don't notice it if you have the sound on but if it is silent, you can hear a low hum.

Nope. Haven't noticed. I actually thought it was very quiet, given it has a fan.

if your player is loud, your player is defective. this is not the way they are.

The only thing you should be hearing is the fan (if you can hear it). The Samsung is normally whisper-quiet.

Well if the Samsung is too noisy for you and bothers you so much that it distracts you, you could always try to create some kind of sound absorbing "blimp" around it (and I know this is not by any long shot an elegant solution but), maybe damping the noise a few dBs would take it under the threshold of audibility? Worked for the Technicolor camera!

Perhaps the new ones are loud, my launch Sammy is actually quieter than my Sony HDD DVD Recorder.
