Yes the bastard child was sitting a few shelves down from the blu-ray's.. Both have equal amounts of movies to rent. 3 top rows for BD and 3 bottom rows for welfare hd.

I'll have to check my local Rogers because the last time I was there they didn't have any hi-def rentals.

Is this east or west coast? Is this all Rogers Video across Canada (major markets)?

Cool...I'll have to check the local Rogers Video here in Fredericton.

Just an FYI for people in the greater Fredericton area; Scholten's on Sunset Drive has been renting Blu since August and it's only 4 bucks per rental (I've rented all of em' once lol). They get new releases every week too I also love supporting them because they don't have any inferior red releases

I'm in Moncton.. so your rogers should have them too.
I think it was $5.49 each.. for 1 day rental.. $1 extra per day.

I shot myself in the foot by moving from a huge Blockbuster with Blu-Ray, to a very small DVD-only Blockbuster. Shoot. At least I own a house now.

Apparently a few stores are test-marketing... to see if and how well they rent before the company goes heavy.

From what i was told by Rogers it's Canada wide, and they are starting with small quantities of movies to see if the demand is there.
Both stores in my city are renting them as of today.

Are you thinking of Blockbuster? I know Blockbuster is doing test marketing,, cause they only rent them out in 250 or so stores so far.

I know this doesn't have anything, per se, to do with Blu-ray, and it's kind of a smart ass question, but does the Rogers company own everything up in Canada? I never knew till now that Rogers also owns video rental stores. I know they're also into cable and broadcast ownership, big time! Holy crap! Can anyone say, "monopoly"??? I love Canada (and I used to live across the river from Sarnia, in Port Huron, Michigan), and went there a lot, but jeez!

Talk about it. Rogers bought the Skydome and renamed it the Rogers Centre. One of the greatest stadiums built and it gets reduced to a namesake for Ted Rogers. Unless he has a retractable toupé, I call foul.

That's fantastic. With all the extra revenue generated from their rentals, Ted Rogers can afford a few more strong starting pitchers for the Blue Jays. Then the North will rise again.

Yeah, they bought out one of the only GSM competitors a couple years ago so they now have a monopoly over the SIM based cellphone market in Canada.
