Hey Big Daddy... You said to set the crossover on my Sony sub to the max which is 200hz....However my receiver does not allow me to set the cutoff frequency range...So my question is if your original recommendation still stands or if I need to try and get the dial on the sub to around the 120hz mark??? My receiver is a Sony STR-K750P. I know you said to study the guide and I did I just couldn't find an answer to this one. Thanks again!!! You are all wonderful to the newcomers!!

nautica, welcome to the foray!
didnt you have a thread like this already? if so, we'd love to keep em all together if you dont mind, so we can keep track of what we have offered as assistance, to help out and all... judging the AVR's performance, you can only set the crossover to normal or micro SP, and from a couple of threads i looked up on, it says around 150hz is the best it can do. tried to download the manual a number of times, but my work computers not letting me... my best results would be gathered from 1. Subwoofer settings - set at 200hz, adjust gain/volume to personal preference. we'd love for you to calibrate it an SPL meter, but we can do that later if you'd like. 2. AVR/Receiver settings - set to Micro SP, subwoofer to Yes. as much as we'd like to fix the crossover points manually, the AVR wont let us. so for the meantime, this shall suffice. |

Ok...No problem I will keep them together from now on.. When I got this receiver I switched it from micro sp to normal speakers because in the manual it stated that the micro sp setting was for when you used small satelites. If I set it to the micro sp setting it will not let me specify large or small speakers or tell the it if I have a subwoofer or not...I dont know if thats a problem or not..I just figured that I would put it to normal speakers because the manual states that if you change the speakers out to change it to Normal...I will go with what you reccomend though..I just want to have the best possible experiance I can have..And once again I am sorry for making a new thread on it...

Also jomari, what does setting it to micro sp actually do?? Because I have it to normal right now and have the front, center and surrounds set to small with sub on...So is micro sp those same settings>

i stand corrected,
on the receiver, use normal SP set speakers to small for all of them Subwoofer to yes personally, i dont think there is much of a difference to using the normal SP with speakers set to small, versus micro sp, since they only have one designated crossover point. but just on the safe side, lets go with the new suggestion. ![]() |
