Default I went to best buy and i was shocked

How my tv / blu - ray doesnt look like they did in best buy. It looked like you were recording the movie right there. Transformers was showing and i don't know how to describe how it looked, it was very fast moving pace, idk it looked ridicoulous though and i wanted to know if i could get it. I am updating my firware now. If you know what its called let me know.

You were most likely seeing the movie displayed with MotionFlow, which is a feature on the TV not the Blu-ray player.

I personally don't like the way movies look on that setting - it doesn't look like film, or a "movie" - but to each his own.

Just looked up your model and it doesn't have MotionFlow. I don't think Panasonics come with it.

You were probably looking at one of their Pioneer Elites which they usually display in their Magnolia Home Theater section and are at least 4 grand if I remember right.

EDIT: Nvm, read your OP again and noticed you were referring to motion-flow. It looks good for CG movies (like Transformers sequences or Pixar movies) and HD sports games, but other than that, it is very distracting and nauseating.

I own the philips 47pfl7403D/f7 HDTV. it can do the 120 refresh rate and its pretty amazing. some people do not like the way it looks, but I do. I know others that also do. I would read up on the tv that can do it.

I personally can't stand the feature as is makes movies look like home videos. It's very artificial looking. That feature was really meant to be used when watching HD sports. It does wonders for that.

BTW, most (not all) 120Hz and above LCD TV's can display some variant of this technology.

Hmmm, this is probably why when I was watching a scene of Pirates of the Caribbean I almost blew chucks all over their display TV's.... I couldn't watch longer than 10 seconds without feeling a tad queasy.

I'm guessing (hoping) that was the MotionFlow since I have yet to pick up the trilogy because of this occurrence.

I, too, thought the same thing. The very first time I observed this in action was more than a year ago in Best Buy. The diaply was on an end cap near the Magnolia HT section, but not in the HT section of the store.

The movie playing was Batman Begins, and my experience was like being in the film (when the seen was inside the batcar), or like watching the evening news on a car chase (when outside the car).

For the life of me, I could not see why anyone would want to turn film-sourced material into video-based material. Eeeek!!!

That motion flow is sometimes reffered to as the "soap opera" effect. I cant stand it myself, it looks unatural.

Like others have said, the frame interpolation (aka MotionFlow, aka "Soap Opera effect") looks good with sports and some cable broadcasts. It's best served as "Off" for blus.

First time i saw this in action i was picking up my latest audio gear from the shop and they had transformers on HDDVD playing and i for a moment thought i had taken to many pills and was stroking out

Not for me, made the movie look, un-finished i guess is the best way i could describe it. If you like the feature many sets offer it and it is usually described/sold as being for sports.

Default Motion blur

Right. Plasmas are not susceptible to motion blur. That is a problem associated with LCDs.

Yup! Please don't go from a plasma TV to a LCD TV for this effect.
Film based media shouldn't look like video, not what the director intended.
I never use this feature on my SONY XBR5 LCD.
