Default The Deep End Season 1 discussion

The pilot is airing right now. I'm really liking it. The script is fast and well written and it was castes very well. All the characters as well. Billy Zane is great as the prince of darkness.

I hope it does well.

I'll probably catch the Saturday Night Rerun, the only thing from the previews that makes me even want to tune in is the legendary Clancy Brown.

The episode is over. I loved it. I think it's the best new series of the year. I love the cast. All of them are likeable.

I'm not sure if you'll like it wylde but give it a chance.

It's replacing Bones for my Thursday at 8 spot.

See I've got Community, Parks & Rec and Supernatural in my 8pm thursday timeslot, so that's why I said i'd probably check it out Saturday on the rerun. It just looks like a generic lawyer show to me, so what makes this one different from all the others and worth watching, might I ask?

The Deep End is more about it's characters than the cases. For example, to compare it to other shows, it's the Castle of the CSI world. Or the Scrubs of the doctor world.
It's not funny like scrubs, but it's good so far.

Of course, this is going by the first episode.

Woah big comparison, Castle huh? Nathan Fillion is hilarious so I don't know if anybody can top his level of sarcasm. Speaking of scrubs I want to kill Dave Franco by bashing his skull in with a brick. Does that make me gay?

I mean more of the tone of the show. No one can beat Fillion. And The Deep End isn't hysterical either. It's just more light hearted than law and order and Damages. And it's not incredible either. I think I might be overselling it. It's got some issues but I see it becoing a great show. I hope you enjoy it.

Being in Law School I find it very hard to watch any law related shows. It is that most of them get it so wrong in the end. I am gonna pass on this one too, not because I am thinking it is not gonna be good, it may very well be, I just cannot add any more shows to my busy tv schedule.

Kind of like how I build airplanes so anything involving people climbing into the landing gears "through a secret hatch" like oh I don't know Commando or last nights Human Target is extremely retarded to me, lol.

Yeah, I have a friend who works as a crime scene tech or something and he feels the same way about all the CSI shows.

Yeah, there is no way I am giving up Community. The show is just that good.

Same. How's it doing ratings wise?

I don't know man. I've been practicing for several years, and usually lawyer shows don't bother me. They have legal supervisors there, so for the most part they get it right. Sure, the real world takes a lot longer than a show (I have cases that have been pending since 2004), but really the law is just a device to get the characters together.

Not sure but with that lineup NBC actually has done something right for once.

They'll probably move them to daytime TV.

Then fire Daniel Tosh and pay him millions of dollars to actually LEAVE the network and go to a better one.

I know they get some stuff right, but it does bug me on the smaller things. Like you said way too quick. But that is TV, like how a kid can be born one season in a show and age 10 years by the next season while keeping all other characters the same age cough Growing Pains cough.. It still bugs me, the other thing that bothers me about legal shows is that so many people watch those and get bad impressions about law from them. In your practice I am sure you get some people expecting it to be like TV. Damages is an exception though, I can watch that one.

I was planning on watching this last night but it conflicted with Vampire Diaries and Bones... same as CSI now conflicts with Supernatural and Fringe so I'll have to catch The Deep End and CSI online or a re-run later on.

Only reason I was even considering this show is because of Tina Majorino.

Well the Nothing But Cocks network ordered 3 more episodes since the demise of the Leno fiasco, so the first season is now up to 25 episodes. And the chances for a renewal got way better with Big Jaw gone and more primetime slots to fill instead of canceling to make room. I believe I also read the show's been averaging around 5.5 million viewers.
