God of War video output. (CoD is 1080p!)

Does anybody know what the video output for GOW III?

Almost every game on the PS3 is 720p. WTF? Even Uncharted 2????????

Seriously. Sony needs to step it up. I'll still buy God of War III if it's not 1080p, but I feel like I'm getting jipped.

It has 1080p but I don't remember if it's upscaled 1080p or regular 1080p.

1080p can be hard to pull off with graphically intense games like Uncharted 2 that already use the RSX and 256MB of VRAM to their full potential.

Look at Metal Gear Solid 4. That game is massive with a bunch of content. There should be no excuse.

My bad (i'm not sober just yet) but I think for God of War III it'll probably be 720p because like as mentioned it probably wouldn't be able to handle 1080p and even if there is 1080p it probably won't be true 1080p.

"Won't be able to handle it" WOW! Just Wow! I love it how the PS3 is suppose to reign over Xbox 360 in terms of graphics, yet it can't fully utilize it's graphics system. This is one reason why games like Bayonetta were made on Xbox 360 and imported to PS3.

Don't get me wrong. I like the PS3, but I should get what it has to offer. Not only get it here and there.

MGS4 is rendered in 720p then upscaled to 1080p. And there is a real excuse. With the hardware available on the PS3 you cannot get the GPU to render games such as Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2 at 1080p above 30fps.

The 7800GTX which the PS3's RSX GPU is based on is 5 years old. It's not about Sony not "stepping it up". And the reason for games being made on 360 being ported is not because of inferior hardware. It is because the 360 is more easy and familiar to code for.

I understand the part about 360 being able to code for. I apologize but I still don't really understand. Why is Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, and others not 1080p, when a game like Modern Warfare 2 is WITH 60fps? It doesn't make sense to me.

Modern Warfare 2 renders at 600p allowing the headroom for 60fps. Also Modern Warfare 2 isn't as graphically as intense as Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2. It has low res textures, simple lighting, very basic effects like smoke and just a lot of bloom.

Get WipeoutHD, it runs in full 1080p

And I really doubt you are going to notice much difference between 720p upscaled to 1080p if you are going to sit there and try to tell me the reason why games are made on 360 and ported to PS3 is because of the very reason you started this post.

I've never understood moans about the resolution of a game!! If it looks great, it looks great, whether 720 or 1080 - really, who cares!!

To the OP, the PS3 is a 1080p device; all my blu-rays are in 1080p, the XMB and some games. But it's not like Sony is conning anyone; it's very clear on the game box what resolution a title runs in and that's down to the developer.

I'd rather have UC2 looking like it does at 720 than be a poorer game running in 1080

I would also add, why is everyone so worked up about something that isn't out yet, true spec's confirmed by sony are not released yet and like partridge said, if it looks really good and plays really good and (for me) sounds really good then who cares what the resolution is? wanna worry about something, lets worry about what happens if we don't wake up tomorrow?
