Question PS3 and Surround System

I recently purchased a ps3 for the bluray player. The ps3 is hooked up to a 50inch plasma tv with a hdmi cord. I also have a surround system that has 5 speakers and a subwoofer. My question is, How can I play movies on my
ps3, bluray movies, and use the surround system? Since the ps3 is hooked to the tv with a hdmi, I cant use the surround system.
If you know how I can fix this problem please send me a pm. Thanks

My TV has audio output. That's connected to my ancient stereo which is 5.1 and the surround sound sounds fine.

If you dont have audio out, then you probably need to buy a hdmi capable audio receiver.

If your surround system has an optical (digital TOS link) input, you can send the sound directly from the PS3 to the reciever. On the system settings (sound) you select optical instead of HDMI. I believe you are limited to lossy sound only. It is still surround and pretty awesome.

only 2 channel PCM through toslink
EDIT: and lossy surround (legacy dolby digital, dts codecs)
