It depends on where you're located, and how close you are to the shipping centers. They only have four shipping centers.

Los Angeles, California
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
Tampa, Florida
Austin, Texas

If you live somewhere in the middle of the shipping areas, or maybe farther away, it may not be worth it.

I had it for awhile, but living in Spokane Washington, it'd take almost a week to get a game, and a week for it to return. They have some thing where supposedly they get notified when a game is accepted at the post office, so they automatically send you another game on your list before it actually gets to them, but that's not 100% depending on the post office.

I ended up quitting it, and if you're gonna be getting a lot of games, it's probably easier to just go to your local place.

If they'd get more shipping centers, and do like Netflix with the 1 day transit time, I'd jump back on that in a heartbeat.

I have it and honestly at least right now it's a waste of money. So many good games out that are worth buying, I've had Overlord 2 sitting around for about 2 months from gamefly and haven't even played it yet. So that is just under $40, I'm sure I could find it for that price somewhere.

If you play through games quickly and like to try out a lot of different games you wouldn't have tried otherwise, gamefly is not a bad deal. But if you like to take your time with games and don't play a wide variety, then you are better off putting the gamefly monthly fee towards buying the disc.

I have a subscription now but I've been planning to cancel since I don't have the time to take advantage. I know some people like it, but the shipping is slow for me and I live in the same state as one of their centers.

I had it for a month or two last year, and it wasn't worth it. Took forever to get a new game (or for them to register I had sent one back). One time it was near 2 weeks turnaround, and I'm not that far from one of the distribution centers.

I'm a new customer to them and so far I like it. Takes 2 days to get a game. I only have the 1 game out at a time. I think the 15 is worth it for a month long rental considering the only other place around me is blockbuster and their prices on ps3 or xbox 360 game rentals are terrible.

I have beed doing Gamefly for a few year now. I can't complain about it. I usually rent games that I had mixed feeling about or games for the kids. I also like the fact that if you like the game you can purchase it.

I have gotten some pretty good deals by purchasing the games that were sent to me. I know I have gotten a few brand new games for $40 or less.

I have had for a few years as well and I end up purchasing a lot of games from them. It only takes 2 or 3 days for me to get a game, but I am in Texas. Once you are a member for a year, you get 10% off everything and you also get a $5 every 3 months. I have purchased many brand new games for like $40. They also give out $10 coupons sometimes around holidays, and whenever they want to clear out inventory.

I've had it for about 3 years now. In Denver it took awhile to get the games but I had 2 out at a time so send one back, start playing the next game, by the time you finish or even before you get the second one in the mail. So no delay if you use it that way. (took up to 5 days to get a new game there btw).

Moved to LA and now it is 1 day turnaround. So I only have 1 game out at a time. Cheaper. Played through all of the big releases this holiday season, kept one game MW2 for $40. Saved a ton of money by not having to buy Uncharted 2, Arkham, Ratchet, Assassin's Creed 2. In the last 3 months also played through Fallout 3, Killzone 2, and Infamous. So played 7 games in 3 months for $40 and got an 8th game for a discount. Totally worth it.

BTW, if you are confident that you will use it, save money and buy the gift certificates. Buy 6 months at a time and it is only $13.32/mo for one game out vs. $16/mo.

I live in Baltimore so not far from PB shipping center. I love it because I'm getting a bunch of games that I wouldn't typically play or more importantly buy. I can't keep spending $60 every month to get a new game, so instead I beat 2 games/month or so for $23. The ones I like, I keep. I think it's worth it but since my schedule is getting busier and busier, I may be canceling in the future, or scaling back to one game out at a time instead of two.

Thumbs down

I had it and hated it. I canceled after only ONE month. The simple reason was that I had Netflix too at the time and it takes ONE day for Netflix to arrive from their Austin location to my house. It took over a week (or more!) for games to arrive from the Austin location for Gamefly and be checked back in. They just aren't big enough of a company right now. I might get it again in the future.
Another problem I didn't like is the selection stunk. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get new games and VERY HARD to get old games (like PS2 or XBOX 1). The reason for this was that they sell all their titles. This can be a good thing but it means some titles COMPLETELY disappear and aren't for rent any more. So, for that reason (and financial difficulties at the time) I canceled.
Like I said... maybe I'll try it again later, whenever they have more location sites and are a bigger company.
Just my two cents!

I have it, love it.

Im from NJ so when a game ships out to me its in the mailbox in 2 days, i had the 1 game at a time but switched to 2 (so when 1 is shipping back to them n they ship one to me i have something to play) i use it for trophy games that i wouldnt buy myself (movie based games are big ie: ice age 3, cloudy with a chance of meatballs, terminator salvation)

have it, love it, approve of it

if i wasnt in a 2-3 day period of getting the game and it took 5-7 i wouldnt do it

Yeah, that's why it wasn't worth it for me. I really wish there was a more convenient way to get new games. I like netflix because when I ship something back, say on a Friday, I KNOW I'm going to get the new release on Tues. and even then sometimes it arrives from Austin. I'm in a good position with Netflix, in that I live surrounded by cities that ship. I'm on the 8 at a time, blu-ray enabled, and might try streaming to PS3 for a laugh later.

i have it and its great for me, im a trophy hunter, so i go through a lot of games, and most of them are games that im not going to want to keep once i finish all the trophies, the games i know im going to want i just go ahead and buy, and leave my GF membership for games i wouldnt want to keep, but the good thing is, if i get something from them that turns out to be a pleasant surprise and i really enjoy, i can just buy it from them, usually at a discount

the easiest way to look at it for me that works even if you arent a trophy hunter is this: the two game plan is $20/month, thats $240/year, the same amount it would cost to buy 4 brand new games, i live pretty far from the TX distribution center i get games shipped from, so it takes about 5 days each way to send and receive games, but i figure that the membership has paid for itself if i go through only 4 games a year, and the pace ive set, i usually go through 4 a month, so i feel like my membership pays for itself 12 times over per year, if you think you are going to go through games at a decent rate, its absolutely worth it, even if it takes a few days to receive and send back games, i just play the games i own in the downtime between sending back and receiving new ones

thats just my opinion
