What Blu-Ray would be the first you ever watched? I bought a 63 inch plasma and a blu ray this morning.We, up until now have not even had high definition tv, so this is huge for our house.

What Blu-ray should be first? I would love you guys input it will be awesome to see the suggestions......Thanks

Mine would probably be something like King Kong.

I think the first I watched was either Star Wars Clone Wars or the first Punisher. Not bad, but not on the level of King Kong.

I'm still new to the game, but the first I watched was Up and it blew me away visually. Recently watched Star Trek and that's the first one that amazed me sonically.

I agree with the Pixar recommendation. It might be fun for you to watch an older Pixar film like a bug's life or even Monsters Inc. or the earlier shorts on Pixar Shorts before moving on to watch Ratatouille, Cars or WALL•E to see how far they'd come along with software and detail improvements on your huge display!

Some others from my library I enjoy in HD particularly are Planet Earth, Baraka, Quincy Jones: The 75th Birthday Celebration and The Dark Knight.

My first two were Apocalypto and Casino Royale, and I would still recommend those two to anybody wanting to break into the world of blu-ray.

I would also recommend Master & Commander, especially if your new rig includes surround sound.

And of recent releases, Inglourious Basterds has a particularly good look to it IMO.

And congrats on your new purchases, you are gonna love seeing high-def movies.

or if you are super familiar with a movie from the 80's, know it frame by frame, like Beetlejuice, then check out the blu.

make sure you read reviews before diving in though, you don't want to get "Total Recall'd...

The first one I ever bought was Planet Earth. Never regretted it. It's an excellent way to start off your Bluray adventures. Just gorgeous looking stuff.

My first BD was Cars, so it's not a bad start

If I could do it again, I would wish to see Star Wars for my first Blu, just for nostalgic and sentimental reasons.

This is what I would do. Find a film you absolutely love and have seen a million times on DVD, VHS, etc... Then watch the Blu-ray. You'll be amazed at things you can see so clearly now that looked like crap before!

Otherwise, if you want to watch something newer that will blow you away, I'd second the Pixar suggestions, as well as the Matrix, Dark Knight, etc...

Either transformers, Incredible hulk, Iron man, pixar movies, Band of Brothers Series, I am legend. All are visually stunning! I wish I could tell you how there HD audio sounds!

I have seen lots of good suggestions. I think Fifth Element was the first blu I watched, which was pretty good. The two blurays that actually gave me goosebumps while watching them, just because of their awesomeness, were Star Trek and Braveheart. Star Trek will blow your mind with the crazy picture and audio quality, and after watching Braveheart I had to remind myself that is was made years ago. Especially on your large TV Star Trek would be amazing.
Also, everyone is giving Pixar well deserved credit in the animated dept., but don't forget Monsters vs. Aliens, Happy Feet, and Kung Fu Panda, all great blurays as well.
