Default A Solution to the Blu-ray-HD DVD War?

The average American is not going to purchase an imported movie from Europe especially if they have to own a second BLU-RAY player with the correct region number. Region free and region selectable hacked players for the DVD format appear all the time on EBAY but so far no one has been able to hack a BLU-RAY player for region free or region selectable.
This is an interesting article about BLU-RAY and HD-DVD owners purchasing movies from Europe that can not be found in the US.
