Default Technical M&K Speaker/Tweeter Swapping Question?

Hello members,

I have enjoyed my M&K LCR-750THX 5.1 system (bought 2001) for many years now and want to upgrade my Z11MKTV 4 ohm tweeters with an M&K tweeter that will have higher quality mids and high frequencies without loosing the matched system as far as both tweeters having the same roll-off characteristics with the same sensitivity, I'm just looking for a more smoother, warmer and better detailed M&K tweeter. Z16 anyone?

Thanks for any recommendations, systemlord.

Did you contact MK Sound about this? As I'm sure you're aware, MK Sound still makes the M&K LCR-750THX 5.1 system, and I believe it is pretty much identical to the version you have from 2001. Have you tried them powered on a system other than your Denon? M&K monitor systems were well known for being highly detailed and transparent, so they revealed any flaws or characteristics in source recordings or in other gear.

If they can't help you with any suggestions, you might try e-mailing Ken Kreisel directly. He might actually respond back to you.

There's nothing wrong with my Denon and current speaker system, I just want to upgrade the Z11 tweeter to the Z16 Professional tweeters into my existing speakers to get better high frequencies. I will try emailing Ken.

Regards,
Systemlord.

The former M&K that Ken Kreisel founded has long since shut down. It went under a few years ago. A European company bought the patents and name and reopened. They can provide a lot of the old parts but not everything but it has nothing to do with Ken. You can try both (Ken certainly will get back to you.

Ken is starting a new company:

His email is on the contact page.

MK Sounds page:

You can also check Deep Surplus:

http://www.deepsurplus.com/

Search M&K and you will find a lot of parts. I think there is a lot of demand for the M&K parts as the owners tend to never want to give them up so there is market out there for them.

If you are also a member of AVS, there is a good thread for M&K owners that is quite active.
