I am in need of some assistance. When the U.S. Disney steelbooks came out, I went and bought them all and ordered the Up and Snow White cases online as my location was out of those.
Problem is, both the Up and Snow White cases, along with the copy of Nightmare Before Christmas that I purchased, have a crack that runs across the middle of the spine (the short way). I know somebody on the forums has previously posted custom artwork for the Snow White spine since it was plain to begin with, but I wondered if they or somebody else would be able to get the standard artwork for the other two as well. For Up, I would need the Jumbo-sized art since I've kept that case. So, anybody want to help this poor guy down on his luck or what? |

Hi,
If you contact steelbook directly they might be able to send you a replacement provided you have the receipt of your purchase. There is a member here who got steelbook replacements for damaged copies just like you do. I'll try to find the post describing it in detail. For now try this link: http://steelbook.com/sw/frontend/sho...96961&layout=0 Last edited by bigjee; 02-06-2010 at 10:34 AM. |

I had a copy of Inglourious Basterds that also had this flaw. I did not notice it at the store, but always make a point of shining a bright light on them before mailing off to anybody. One copy had a slit on the spine - I hoped it was just the plastic, and decided to slit open that area, and found that there was no damage to the plastic, but the spine had a slit. I think there may be some sort of manufacturing error that very infrequently takes place, but still happens. That's the first one I noticed, and luckily, being the spine was black, it stood out and I didn't ship it to somebody.
So bottom line, don't think that it's necessarily a boxcutter slit, as I examined the plastic after cutting around the slit, and noticed no damage to the plastic at all. |

If you have any extra copies I would love to see what one of these sells for on ebay... Some nutball collector would probably pay $150 each for those... Last edited by Ashamed Pegasus; 02-06-2010 at 09:40 AM. |

Actually I do have a spare UP SB + Amaray set. I'm seriously tempted to slim it down just to see what kind of interest it would get.
BTW my copy of WALL-E SB is now a 3 disc set as I already had an earlier set and just swapped out the frame. |

Those are great spines, any instructions on best ways to print them? Like type of paper or printer and how to apply?

Go to this link http://thadump.net/sbhunterz/index.php?topic=3733.100 and all will be revealed. Print onto adhesive vinyl then apply a layer of QUALITY cellotape to protect the artwork. Just make sure your spines measure 155mm X 9mm. My next project is to transform a spare Snow White SB Into a Ratatouille, using the original artwork from the 2008 DVD Sb from Futureshop. I have the artwork resized and ready to go, thanks to Jamesaevans.

Custom slim spines here in case anyone wants them. I missed the UP listed above somehow so I just made another one.. Just pull the PDFs, print using whatever paper you have. If you only have printer paper, print first then put a layer of clear packing tape on top, and another layer of tape on bottom before cutting them out. Seems to work better that way. Glue down using whatever method. These are mostly vector files so they should print out nice and crisp.
