I was expecting to get about $700 back and was going to pickup a set of Definitive Technology speakers. As it turns out, I owe close to $1k.

Well...there goes that.

Hopefully we get money back, not sure yet as they are being done today so I'll know soon. Unfortunately, any money we get is going to just be going to freakin credit card bills.

I haven't done my taxes yet but if you're getting money back that means you let good old Uncle Sam use your money for the entire year without interest. Now it is his time to return to you. Just think if you had the money at the time what you could have bought through out the year. Well that is the accountant in me coming out.

I hope to not owe but maybe get a little back and it will go into the bank for the little boy coming soon. I can't complain and its an exciting thing in anyone's life and looking forward to it. Introducing him into the world of blu-ray as he gets older.

If you are a true accountant...you would have mention the deduction he brings!

I got about $2300 back and didn't expect a tax credit on the new car I bought this year, so that fielded me about $400 extra!

Half of it went to credit card bills and the other half I spent on a Jamo D6PEX7.1 package I found for $1000. It was a lightly used demo and everything is in pristine condition, in fact they weren't even really broken it at all!

I say good way to start this year!

My father in law always harps on this, in a perfect world this would be ideal but some of us just aren't able to do that. I'd much rather get a return at the end of the year then get caught by surprise and have to pay in. It's tight enough as it is with 2 kids, it just makes my life much easier knowing that I don't have to worry about being out another 500-1k at the beginning of the year.

Thumbs up Tax refund

We'll be getting back over $8500 this year. I'm setting aside around $5000 of that for a complete overhaul of my system. I intend on getting the new Panasonic TC-P54VT25 3D plasma, one of the new Onkyo HDMI 1.4 receivers, and a Magnepan 7.1 speaker system. I will be one happy little boy !!!

Using the state refund to pay the federal bill. Planned pretty good this year to keep the government from borrowing money interest free. Probably changed withholding three times during the year.

Not a fan. I always have to pay somewhere around 8-12 thousand because of my tax bracket.

You should make estimated payments during the year. There's probably interest and penalties in there so you can save yourself a little while lessening the impact of having to pay so much at once.

I pay every month to off set the taxes at the end of the year. I just need to increase what I pay every month. I have just been to busy with work to sit down and do it. My own fault.

Don't you just love that. They get interest and penalties if you don't pay in enough during the year but if you over-pay you don't get jack from them.

If you think it's bad now, just wait until someone in the government wakes up and realizes that it is over $12,000,000,000,000 in debt!
