Default LucasArts Point and Click Adventure Games!

SCUMM rules!

Loved all of them, still hoping (and being disappointed) for a sequel to Full Throttle. Loved all of the Indy games, much better than the crap we get these days.

Anybody else have a love of them?

I know some of the ppl involved in Full Throttle were behind the Brutal Legend game. The guy that did the voice of the main character Ben in FT died a few years back .

And Yes SCUMM does rule, I have a few of the good titles, Day of the tentacle, and Fate of Atlantis on CD, they play on my Sega Dreamcast

The emulation isnt perfect, but pretty good

fwiw, DOTT was the first PC game I bought back in 1993 that had all voice acting, back then it was a big deal, now a days, looking back on it, its kinda laughable, then again, where is the speaking dialog in the PS3 Afrika game, that was a little bit of a let down imho.

I played the Monkey Island games when they first arrived, and also played Full Throttle as well. It's a shame that Gog.com can't seem to get a licence to retro-fit the LucasArts back catalog, they know that people want them...

Think I was the only one who got the Monkey Island in-joke, too:
[Show spoiler]After being shot out of the cannon in "Curse" and landing on the island, your character is dazed and has the choice of several incoherent responses--
One of which is "I'm Bobbin Threadbare, are you my mother? "
Choose this, and the response you got was, "Nah, yer mother was a duck!"

Loved all those games. Luckily with scummVM I can still play them. It's nice to see the point and click games see a resurgence with Telltales games releasing 3 Sam&Max games and one monkey island game. So far. The first two Sam&Max games were really good. Especially the one where they go to hell.

I figured out a way to play these games on a Nintendo DS, awesome

Monkey Island 1 & 2, heck even Day of the tentacle talkie version, and yes, even Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, but I lost my talkie cd version

The only one I ever played was Full Throttle and I loved it. I still have it and I still play it from time to time.

I'd like to try out some of the other games though.

Have you guys checked out the Back to the Future game Telltale is doing right now? It's a point and click, and it's pretty amazing.

I think the Monkey Island series is the best adventure one ever.
I'm still missing those games. It seems nowadays kids are not very keen on point and click adventure games.

Is it like the old classics or at least like the recent Monkey Island?

Yep, I grew up with "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis," "Sam and Max Hit the Road," "Day of the Tentacle," "Full Throttle," and "The Dig." I also used to play a few good Sierra games ("King's Quest" VI and VII, "Space Quest" IV, V, and VI, "Quest for Glory," etc), but I give the edge to the LucasArts ones.

Demo-ed it, thought it looked alright. It looks like a good story and some good puzzles; animation just seems a little cheap.

I think the best greatest thing we have in this generation that's comparable to a classic point-and-click adventure is "Heavy Rain." I hope they make more games like it.

It's all about the story. That's the whole reason I played it. The graphics didn't bother me at all. The game was all around just a good time. The whole series is done now, so you can get all five episodes now without waiting.

Ah, Point and Click Adventure. The Ultimate form of gaming! LucasArts were the masters of the genre, sucks that they had to change direction and nowadays only pump out mediocre games (abusing the Star Wars franchise mostly) to earn a quick buck...

Oh well, let the nostalgia flow!

Monkey Island is by far my favorite franchise created by LucasArts. I love the first three games and proudly award them the title "Classic Masterpieces". Although the third game lacks the excellency in story the two first games had (although it's still very strong), it has amazing voice acting (simply perfect casting, especially for Guybrush, LeChuck and Murray) and brilliant graphics - I simply adore the animation and background artwork.

My favorite game by LucasArts is not an Monkey Island game though. It's the greatest game starring the man with the whip. I'm of course talking about Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I'm a huge fan of the Indiana Jones movies, and when I learned that there was an point and click adventure game starring Indy, I shit my pants. When I finally got to play the game, it did not disappoint, and most of my free time was spent playing. I finished it in a week, taking into account that I was stuck on the frustrating and challenging alignment of the Atlantis stones for two days... I was so sad when I had finished it, I wanted more dammit! But then I learned there were different paths you could take...!!! Yay, more Indy goodness. So I finished the two other paths (Fist and Team, I took Wits the first time) in a few days.
[Show spoiler]And then I played through the game a fourth time just to see what happens if you don't help the possessed Hapgood! (evil I know, but I had to know!)

And that was that. In conclusion, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is another classic masterpiece by LucasArts, which has excellent story and story-telling, superb voice acting, beautiful graphics and challenging game-play (puzzles). Tho I'll never forgive LucasArts for canceling both sequels, Spear of Destiny and Iron Phoenix! Oh well, at least we got the Action-adventure Indy games.. Good games, but they lack the charm and polish which Fate of Atlantis had.

ANOTHER classic masterpiece by LucasArts is Day of the Tentacle, which excels in the puzzles department, with puzzles that are very creative and fun - taking full advantage of the "time-traveling" done in the game. The humor in DoTT is very wide as well, thanks to it's three main characters, whom are: The nerd Bernard, the deranged medical student Laverne (I love her, so many weird and funny lines!), and the roadie Hoagie.

I'm ashamed to say I still haven't played through Sam & Max: Hit the Road. I've just been scratching the surface by watching the very funny intro. I know I'll love it, but I just haven't got around to it yet... I've promised myself I'll finish it before the end of the year, and I mean to!
