Arrow Look at These Clowns Running around District 9

I absolutely hated District 9, but someone thought it'd be a good idea to spoof the movie with clowns, and it basically tells the entire useless story in 60 seconds.

Quote:
The Prawns of District 9 are not meant to be lovable-looking characters. They have to earn your love and compassion throughout the film. It was a tough task but director Neill Blompkamp made it look easy. However, I think not even he could work his magic if the Prawns were replaced with clowns. Clowns are unlovable. Source

Seems to be the common opinion. One I just don't understand, they just took every stereo type about black people you've ever heard, turned them into giant shrimp prawns, and somehow this was successful how? Please explain to me what I missed here? I couldn't even finish it.

No they never, they just mirrored apartheid in my head. If think I feel more racially uncomfortable with Nigerian Crime bosses eating aliens to get their powers.

True. Also, our species is mostly ignorant so who knows maybe IF that did ever happen we'd treat the aliens the same exact way they did in the movie. I can see that happening. I thought the social commentary theme was done very well. It's also one of the best sci-fi movies to come out in a loooooong time.

Lol, that movie had more racist black stereotypes than Spike Lee has for whitey in his movies, and i didn't think that'd be possible.

lol Oh come on. If anything, Avatar's "native peeps" and Transformers 2 "ghetto twins" were worse than the prawns. But seriously though, instead of the typical alien invasion movie, we get an alien refugee movie mixed-in with some great action, a main character who's morals change and a love story. All of which flowed fluidly.

But, just to please whoever thought it was a racist movie, the sequel should be set in Las Vegas. All the white tourists will bond with the prawns and teach them how to be alcoholic degenerate gamblers.....and the soundtrack will be nothing but Kanye West songs.

Loved District 9 and enjoyed Avatar. Racism was the furthest thing from my mind when I watched both of them. Glad my brain doesn't go there.
