A cool drive by was seeing one of the big sound stages where they shot X2 or X3..can't remember.

Like you, I'm also in the suburbs of Vancouver and there is always filming here. Twilight:New Moon had a ton of stuff don 3 minutes from my place. Also, Fringe is mostly shot in Vancouver and surrounding areas now, and Walter's lab is filmed about 5 minutes from me in a very popular spot. Teen Wolf was filmed in one of the nearby parks here, and big portions of Shooter with Mark Wahlberg were filmed here.

[Show spoiler] The parts where he goes down the hill and drives into the river, and where they are searching for him with helicopters....that's all done here on the Fraser River in New Westminster, B.C.

I live in Portland Oregon & the 2 films I can think of that were filmed right here were ~ Untraceable & The Hunted . Kinda cool watching the movie & knowing exactly where they are .

The movie Pontypool was filmed about 25 minutes from me, have friends that live there. Great movie too!

the first 3 to come to mind are top gun, traffic and paranormal activity. PA was actually filmed about 1 mile from my parents place.

The Top Gun house is here in Oceanside, and the hill where Tom Cruise drove up. The city wanted to tear it down, but there was public out cry so it stands.

In the Heat of the Night, the movie filmed in my hometown of Dyersburg, TN. Most of it was cotton fields shot but there is a home in the movie, a large plantation type house that is also in my home town, although it looks signigicantly different now that it was hit by a tornado.

Also the movie US Marshalls shot near Dyersburg. There is a scene where they are chasing Snipes in a wooded lake area. That is Reelfoot Lake about 30 minutes from my hometown.

Wasn't In The Heat Of The Night also shot in Sparta, IL? I worked 5 minutes from Sparta for a couple years and never drove thru Sparta...lol.

Yeah the majority of it was shot in Sparta IL, they even changed the name of the town in the movie to Sparta just because of that. I currently live about an hour or so south of Sparta in Carbondale IL.

I remember seeing something on a local show (I think it was on Evening @ 7pm) but it was a few years back. I'm sure there is something online. Also, imdb.com lists the locations of filming. If I can find a link/links I'll post them.
