Default michaelbay.com Blu-ray Rep: VOTE NOW

re: atdm71's original thread

And I quote (copied and pasted):

Here's a recommended list of the ready, willing, and able. Suggest reading this thread for background:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=20904

Time is running out! (tomorrow, 12pm EST). Spend less time questioning the list and get to helping us submit a representative we can send along to Nelson, webmaster at michaelbay.com. Everyone on this list, as I'm sure the bulk of you will agree (or will agree after researching and reading through a good chunk of of their posts) can do a great job representing the Blu-ray format, particularly in an online debate with representatives from AVS Forum (possibly others?) pulling hard for the Reds (HD DVD).

Thank you in advance for taking the time to vote and for helping is bring forward a promising debate champ.

Note there have been no clear preferences stated from Nelson as to whether or not this individual needs to be an Insider; News Editor, Moderator or Forum Member. Anybody's game. We just need to make a decision and we need your help!

Can somebody PLEASE "transform" ( ) this pick list into a poll for me? I do not have the ability or access to create a poll.

sure... (and yes...yes you do)

note: I didn't include paidgeek or penton or max, etc. due to their extreme insiderness. (i thought that might be an issue...if it is not, please correct me and add them to the poll, thanks)

I'm finding it funny that a HD DVD supporter may not be found before the noon cut off time. AVS is scrambling to find one as of yet.

Finding a HD DUD supporter that isn't a complete fool is of course impossible by definition.

Regardless who is picked to represent Blu, I think many of the guys in the list should be closely involved with the Blu Rep via MSN Messenger (or something), as resources during the debate. We should kinda treat this like a football game. One person carries the ball for the touchdown, but we need a Quarterback, Halfbacks, Coaching staff, etc., backing him & throwing him information. Better to have a team effort crafting what we ask and what we say. Definitely should have our best Technical guys on the sidelines in contact with the Blu Rep (like PaidGeek, etc.). Have our best political guys helping. Have our best defensive strategists who know the beneifts of HD DVD at the current time, and have the best answers for their questions on these already before the debate.

I know the guys will likely do most of this anyway, however just in case it may help, here are some strategies that could be employeed that may help if you don't mind me putting in 2 more cents:

(1) I think the Blu team should definitely take the high road & not do any bashing of HD DVD, but just focus on "educating & informing" the people who are on the fence only, which is Bay's/Nelson's whole objective!

(2) The Blu Rep should not be on the 'defensive' at any point, as that will come across looking weak, but rather should anticipate all the main points or weaknesses of Blu-ray that the HD DVD guys will try to point out/exploit in their questioning/comments, and actually have our Rep "mention/explain these points proactively before the HD DVD side has a chance to; merely as a 'pre' add-on to explaining our strengths". Basically, if we "steal their thunder" first, at every turn, before they have a chance to put us on the defensive & then "end each statement or question with the more important/positive points of Blu-ray", the people on the sidelines will not see Blu's weak points as real weaknesses, and the HD DVD guys will be scambling because the question they were going to ask/or statement they were going to make, won't hold up with the people sitting on the fence. We shouldn't even call them weaknesses, but merely functionality not yet available, but that will be in the near future, explaining when.
For example this was so informative and helpful to me regarding 1.1 specs/PiP, etc: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=18389 (If there are other credible sites/sources to use to back this up it would be good also)

((Don't let them be the ones to brag that they have PiP 7 we don't, but rather let us get the word out we have it as of Oct 31, and movies to follow can take advantage, even as of now in some cases.))

(3) Definitely want to be prepared to back up everything we say with stats, credible sources, etc., "prior" to the debate, so that we're not really even debating, but more so, just informing/educating those on the fence on why Blu is the future format replacement for DVD.

OK that's more than 2 cents, but if there's any way I can help in terms of planning and strategy, I thought it wouldn't hurt to at least put it out there & try to be helpful.

A well-said 2 cents, my friend.

Doubt it will change much. Though it appears somebody took some editorial liberties to add "the one...the only:" before his name (still appreciate the help getting the poll created).

Really too bad it has to be just one. There's a heckuva lot of good talent on that list; all of whom would make especially valuable contributions on behalf of the Blu-ray format, including Penton-Man and Paidgeek.

My final comment on this -- Nelson, yourself and Mr. Bay, I'm sure, would enjoy insightful, informative and entertaining conversation about the Blu-ray format with this panel, following the online debate. Here's also hoping you indulge the opportunity.

Agreed. Impressions and how one carries themselves are as important as what's being said. No bashing but let's not be sanctimonius either. Good luck.

WickyWoo would of been my next choice. I just think Josh has the resources readily available to fight off FUD.

4. Using "Transformers on Blu-ray" as an example (without bashing the HD DVD release of it & just focusing on what Blu can do), might be good to use when explaining what the benefits of Blu are for the future of High Def ... ?

I have no doubt that the red team will be doing just that. And I expect a few new things to be casually mentioned by them to try to catch the blue team off guard.
